Lovely area for running your dog, several acres with a shallow creek, trees and open areas. However the park is NOT COMPLETELY FENCED and you have to know your dog before letting him or her off leash. The fence has large gaps at the busy roadway and the parking lot, which is about 100 meters off the road. My 1 year old pup does not have great recall in such a high stimulation setting and, after two visits, I won’t go back because of the very real risk of tragedy. If your dog is high energy and loves to roam, as mine does, consider carefully. The area is so big that for most dogs the risk is very low, there were 15-30 dogs when I visited, and they were all hanging around people and other dogs rather than running the extent of the park like my pup. If it were fenced completely it would be an ideal park for dogs. It’s a mystery as to why it’s not fully fenced, it’s as if they just ran out of fencing and stopped short of closing the area, it would cost very little to make this a safe and fantastic place for every dog and their...
Read moreWonderful place! Been taking our dog there for 3 years now. Lots of regulars so it's nice to see repeat owners and dogs. It's not completely fenced off, so it's good to make sure you have voice control of your dog in case you need to call them back. That said, the main road is blocked by a fence and there is plenty of room to run around, so we've never had to worry about our dog leaving the park. There's also a river that runs through it, so its great for the water loving dog!
For the most part owners to a good job of picking up after their pets, but some aren't so it's good to watch where you step.
Dogs are usually friendly and not a lot of drama, our dog always come home happy and exhausted!
Overall though it's great place!! If you want to run some energy out of your dog, this is...
Read moreThis park is located in a flood plane and instead of building on it, the city chose (wisely) to allocate the area for dogs and their owners. Best decision the city ever made, imo.
I've never been to a better dog park. There's plenty of room to run, the community is amazing, and poop bags and shovels are provided. Plus, it's not just a patch of grass! There are pretty little nooks and crannies for you and the pup to explore if you want to get away from the main crowds. Rapid Creek runs along the eastern border of the park and provides a great swimming hole for the hot summer days.
More cities need to have parks like this for dog owners. It's an easy way to provide high-quality enrichment, especially when the owners freetime is limited. I've yet to find a park that comes close...
