Thatcher Park — Attraction in Ravenna Township

This park features a playground and swings plus a HUGE slide that once held a world record I believe. Two picnic pavilions - one large, one small- can be reserved for a small fee. A gazebo is a popular place for weddings along to as a popular photo background. A paved and boardwalk trail surrounds the park for those wishing to just enjoy nature or get their steps in. A small bathhouse is close to the parking area. Crockery Creek runs through this park making it a popular place for fishermen. While walking through the wooded back part of the park, take a quiet moment to enjoy the creek at the observation deck. If you're lucky you might see a blue heron or even a crane. During the winter months with snow, the park is popular with kids who climb the hill to the water tower and sled down. Visited Thatcher Park in Ravenna with my three kids and we had a great time. The park was very clean and clearly well maintained—the lawn was freshly cut, flowers were blooming, and everything looked cared for. The walking trail was shady and peaceful, and even the area down by the creek was clean and nice.

We didn’t use the picnic tables, but they looked clean and in good condition. The playground was also well kept and a hit with the kids, especially the hill slide. There were bathrooms available (we didn’t use them), and parking was totally fine. Best part? It was super quiet—we didn’t see anyone else there while we were visiting. The playground has a variety of things for climbing, sliding, and just playing. The main playground equipment is tall, so it's not best for very little kids. There is a shorter one with stairs and 2 slides, although the slides end fairly high off the ground. My taller 2 year old loved the whole thing, although it made me nervous a few times (he could climb higher than I could reach from the ground). And then there's the very long metal slide on the hill.
