We were there to see our grand-daughter 's softball game. Their parking for handicapped individuals is the worst I have ever experienced. To begin with, they only had 3 handicapped spaces in their huge parking lot. That in itself is not ADA compliant To make matters worse you have to walk approximately the length of a football field to get to see any ballgame. This is also not ADA compliant. The MO law states "In parking lots or garages accessible parking spaces must be located on the shortest accessible route to the accessible entrance. An accessible route is the path a person with a disability takes to enter and move through a building or facility." Their parking is no where near the entrance to the facility. "Accessible parking spaces must be located on the shortest accessible route of travel to an accessible facility entrance. " In my opinion, they need to move the handicapped parking to just behind the first ball fields. This is what many other ballparks in the area have done. They also need to add more handicapped spaces congruent to the ADA requirements. They can then replant their trees and create a new park setting. I will be notifying the Missouri Protection and Advocacy Services of this situation. I hope that it is resolved in a timely manner. At night the lighting to get to the parking lot and also within the parking area is very poor. I'm surprised that you haven't any personal attacks or...
Read moreThis past weekend we played in a baseball tournament at the baseball fields located in the park.
Overall the park is new & clean and decorated nicely with trees & flowers. It also has an interesting looking disc golf park I wouldn't mind checking out some afternoon.
The reason for the 2/5 rating was due to a sign at the fields saying "Practicing baseball isn't allowed. Fields are game ready". This is what's wrong with youth sports in general. Too much $$ is involved. Granted - we were there playing in a paid tournament so maybe we are the problem ... ?
Isn't this a city park? Paid for by the tax payers? If the sign would have read "No dirt bikes allowed. This is a game ready field." I'd understand. Riding a dirt bike on the field would destroy the integrity of the fields. But baseball practice? With baseballs & bats? And fun? Oh, the humanity! The main reason to build a baseball field is to teach, play & promote baseball. When we limit access we are doing more...
