Rebel Hive Meadery — Attraction in Reading

This is some of the best mead around! If you’ve never had mead before, I would highly recommend stopping in and trying Rebel’s. I didn’t realize that their mead is award-winning, but this makes total sense given some of the other mead options on the market 🥴. They have several different flavors, including limited edition ones like the PBJ flavored (and allergen friendly) “Rebel Lunch” to appeal to people with various taste preferences and they let you taste test everything. I also think they’re the only place around that serves alcoholic slushies and they are (of course) phenomenal! Not to mention the ambience of the meadery is extremely warm and inviting. There are tons of games available to play with friends while enjoying your mead- my favorite is connect 4! We also love the fact that they have a pinball machine. They sell local honey and display art from native artists in the community. The outdoor seating is also really nice and they encourage byof (bring your own food) which is convenient since they are centrally located in West Reading right on Penn Ave next to all of the restaurants! And if you can’t make it into the Meadery, you can order online, or grab some at your local Giant while grocery shopping. This also makes a really unique gift and drink to serve at parties. Loved visiting here over a beautiful weekend. Immediately upon walking in, the friendly employee at the counter let us try a wide selection of the meads that they had available, and it was a fantastic tasting! A good selection of an array of good flavors, from coffee, to cherry, to mango. They also boasted some cinnamon and spice-focused meads that would be phenomenal for autumn.

When I went, I accidentally forgot to grab a purchased bottle and put it in my bag at checkout, and drove the 2 hours home before noticing. After explaining this to them online, they shipped the forgotten bottle to my house right away. I'm so grateful! This company is only a few years old but made it through Covid and seems to be thriving. I can't wait to visit them again...

This Meadery is definitely in the minority. I have been to quite a few, and so far only a handful have I considered quality. Rebel Hive is not only fantastically superb, it is very unique as well. Great product. Too bad I can’t have it shipped to me. At least I had the pleasure of trying it while I was in town. They were all excellent, but I give extra praise to “It’s Not You, It’s Mead”, “Rebel Lunch”, and my personal favorite “Jazzy Java”. Nice staff. I would get a second job here if I lived here.
