Signage VERY outdated, references a tree that is now a stump. Old bronze plaque still calls it "Ide" adobe, now known to be false attribution. Building no longer has traditional roof, you can see where pole beams would have been. Current roof protects building but is inappropriate for structure of this style. Building was locked, but if you peer in you can see reasonable furnishings for the period. The ceiling & rafters are not accurate for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe adobe itself has been rebuilt after the big oak tree (now cut down, alas) dropped a large branch on it. It's a pleasant enough stop if you're in the area. They do living history events occasionally.
There's a short walk up a hill (not an accessible trail) for a nice view of the river, and a visitor center with much more of the history. The visitor center is a modern building and accessible. The adobe area is on relatively level, smooth ground, but it is dirt, so plan accordingly if walking is a challenge. Nothing is very far from the parking lot.
