This was a nice hike, but we felt out of shape after completing it. It’s a bit deceiving because you go downhill for the first have, then have to go uphill most of the way back. Even though it was only 500ft elevation gain over 3.5 miles, we still were pretty tired by the end and we are in pretty good shape. The views at the end were nice if you get on top of the rocks. The trail was pretty deserted when we started at 7:30am, but it was getting busier on our way out, around 9:30am.

This is a pretty nice trailhead with parking for 20 cars at least. The trail is more like a Sandy road for the four miles of hiking that I did on it. Have to go through some gates to keep the cattle out of the road. There's some toilets in the parking area although no trash receptacles. It's a beautiful area and I'm glad that I went there for a nice hike with my pup.

This is a fun, easy hike that gets you to the north side of Dowdy lake. Good path, not technical. The hill coming back to the parking lot is a bit more work than you think it's going to be. You don't have to take the route to the lake if you don't want to. This trail splits off a few different ways.

This trail is somewhere I'd be happy to take an elderly relative, should we happen to be nearby. The "summit" is really just an overlook. The trail, while rather flat and dull, actually heads slightly downhill to the rocky overlook for 3.5 miles meaning that after you've taken in the mediocre views you then have to walk 3.5 miles back up a mild, yet never ending, incline all the way back to your car where you wonder why on earth you drove an hour to get here. Three stars as there was a nice rock...
