Glacier Lake Trailhead — Attraction in Red Lodge

The road is perfectly fine. Either it gets terrible during the winter, or the side-by-side boomers are trying to gatekeep this place so they can do donuts in the parking lot and destroy the trails in peace.

Trailhead to lake shore is a hair over 2mi and 1200ft of elevation gain. Loads of scrambling opportunities beyond that point. Gorgeous hike and lake. Not as busy as I'd expect, but lots of off-leash dogs and geriatrics cutting the switchbacks to show nature who's boss.

Probably worth avoiding during peak season / weekends but otherwise a lovely hike with a quick punch...

Glacier Lake Trailhead is a bit difficult to get to, it involves an 8 mile rocky dirt road that I would not advise in a low clearance car. Otherwise, getting to the lake and the trail itself is straight forward and an excellent hike. The hike itself is not very long, perhaps about 2miles up (we wandered shooting photos), and 2 back.
