Why would anyone give this place a 1 star!? If I could give it 10 stars, I would! The drive is not for the faint of heart. You do have to go up really high to get there from Red Lodge. Or it's the start of the downward trend out of the Beartooth Pass from the Chief Joseph Scenic Byway. This last stretch before Red Lodge is the most frightening part of the entire trip through. The road is well paved, though, and if you take it slow, it's not a problem. But definitely stop at the vista. You can see the road you will travel on the way down. Or if you are going up, you'll see what you just achieved. There is a walkout that really gives a very wonderful 360 degree majestic show. It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to and I've been through many places like this before all over the U.S. I went 20 years ago coming over from Yellowstone. It's been about a week ago that I went over coming in from Red Lodge. Never a disappointment! Also, bring some nuts for the chipmunks there. There are several that will come up to you and take the food right from your hand. Cute little rascals that will keep you entertained for awhile. There are primitive restrooms as well. Listen carefully and you will hear the Rock Creek stream dashing against the rocks below. It then flows north, through Red Lodge and onto the Yellowstone River.
