This was my first visit to Tsunami Gallery, and I usually do not leave reviews… for anything. Just felt I had to put in one for this. The building is older but well positioned along the bayside road we all drive up the coast. Flags that say “Open” and an eye-catching bronze statue outside prompted me to pull over. The gallery has high ceilings, walls full of paintings and is well lit. A friendly gentleman with paint on his hands promptly came out of the back room to greet me. I now realize that this is the gallery owner. He had answers to every question- knew all of the artists by piece, described their styles, even knew which brushes they used. It felt like walking around a small art museum. He speaks as if he is simply an admirer of other artists’ creativity and skill, even though he is actually a successful artist himself. As an aside, he even gave me great tips on Oregon coast hikes, gave me a mile-by-mile guide put out by Oregon Coast Magazine, and advice on which hike my kids would enjoy. I purchased a seascape by William Selden- who is now my new favorite artist. Price ranges were very reasonable, a wide variety of affordable yet gorgeous images, jewelry, glass, etc. If you’ve read this far- thanks and sorry I’m such a rambler. Also, don’t buy Selden’s huge sunny seascape, because I’m coming back for it someday once my art budget has gotten a bit bigger.

You should definitely stop here. Yes, the outside of the place is a bit shabby. However, inside has beautiful art by local artists. And Mac is great. Very friendly and will give you so many great suggestions on places to visit in Oregon to include on your journey if you can. Also his bronze statues outside are extremely lifelike. Worth checking out.

The gentleman who owns the place has consistently recommended awesome places to check out whenever we've stopped in on road trips (it's a must-stop when we come this way on 101.) The fused glass art and jewelry are fantastic.

To anyone else considering coming here to check out tsunami-related artwork, save yourself the trouble.

However, if you want to see misc paintings (mostly nature scenes), bronze sculptures (mostly of native Americans and animals), a bit of glass art, and photography, this might be the place for you.

I hate to leave less than five stars for this nice gallery and the nice man working there, but my mom and I are interested in tsunamis and were quite disappointed when we went out of our way to stop by here. Please, indicate somewhere on your signs that this is not a gallery of...

Nestled along Highway 101's scenic route, Tsunami Gallery in Gardiner, OR, offers more than just a great view of the Umpqua River. Housed in a historic building currently under restoration, this gallery showcases a collection of paintings and bronze sculptures from local artists. The owner, a wonderfully hospitable gentleman, shared intriguing details about the artworks and provided valuable recommendations for nearby parks and a Mile-by-Mile Guide to Oregon. Tsunami Gallery is undoubtedly worth a stop for anyone with an art...
