Just felt compelled to give a different perspective OR suggestion regaurding Shana G.'s comment....yes i understand why you felt the older women's comment might have been out of line or a little "overly awkward" on the delivery....but in the last year to 6 months...ive noticed along with other small business owners (i.e. local farmers, restaurant owners & staff, and various small roadside stands) that the concern and NEED for detailed info on the use of pesticides and other chemicals is a growing concern...and the info or questions being asked are not the "correct ones"... I do my best to live a self- substainable lifestyle for the last 10+ years...in the beginning i quickly learned the info i had and the questions id ask when i started were actually VERY insulting and rude i learned quickly by either taking classes, introducing myself and asking for a little education and gathered knowledge from our local farmers. I talk to those community member on a weekly... sometimes daily bases to this day and im still learning...i'm glad i now can help or give advice to frienda or family who are just starting to pay attention to the food they buy...and there is even more "popular" fake truths now....just cause it says "NO GMO's" on the package it DOES NOT mean that the soil/fertilizer the plant is grown in came from a cow (any animal) that was feed food that wasnt sprayed by pesticides or YES the tomato plants on a farmer may not have been sprayed but the plants next to him or and therefore pesticide in the run-off gets to the tomatoes...
Also just keep in mind living a "green lifestyle" is also remembering to respect mother nature and everything living in her and most of all...try to live with peace and don't pass judgment on people..."never judge a book by its cover"....it can hurt when people judge us by our "covers"... you never know...how many customers she handled in front of you that were rude, acted like they kneq everything about growing stuff with no GMOs or pesticide???? maybe she was trying to help you out cause she knows something about the other food/vender you had gotten?¿?¿ No Disrespect.... trying to open stranger's eyes...to every negative experience usually has a positive side and...
Read moreI went to the Easton farmers market today and made several purchases from several vendors. Apparently I bought some vegetables from a competitor who I would consider a fellow local vendor! The little old lady from Oakdale farms was cashing me out and saw I bought stuff elsewhere and started very loudly telling me they have tomatoes and corn, I said thanks I have some just the potatoes, zucchini and summer squash Then as her line grew she was shouting that she doesn't use pesticides several times and got louder each time. I finally said if your subliminally trying to tell me they use pesticides I don't care I clean my house with bleach and chemicals. I regret my purchase from Oakdale Farms! That old lady is not very neighborly and shame on you for knocking someone else.. she doesn't know what and how they farm. At her ripe old age she should know better! I will never support a business with...
Read moreCarefully inspect the corn you purchase. Ours had worms. This place is lovely and has an abundance of beautiful fresh produce. The wonderful scent of homemade potpouri that they sell. A large array of homemade baked goods and other products. However, there was a problem with the corn we purchased last weekend. When we came home and husked the corn many ears had rotted parts and most of the corn had worms. Not just one or two, but lots. My first time seeing worms in corn. Maybe the corn was left unpicked too long? The positive is no pesticides obviously and our chickens had a great corn feast. We do plan on returning next year, just not in late August. We also will husk the corn there and advise others to...
