The camping site was quite a walk from where we could park the vehicle, which we had expected, we had site number 52, something the map doesn't show is that its way up on quite a hill. That was quite a surprise! that said there was lots of grass and it was a large pleasant spot.
Most of the campers it seemed were from Spokane and a few from Seattle.
There's a really nice rail trail on the opposite side of the lake. We drove to the North end, unloaded the bicycles, and then cycled down to the South end of the lake. It was a pleasant ride with the kids, and quiet easy and level. The trestle at the North end was great to bike over, and not scary at all.
The biggest disappointment was the water. It was full of lake weeds pretty much everywhere we saw throughout the lake, even the swimming area, and really gross. The swimming beach had lots of goose droppings. It was bad enough that my kids didn't want to swim any more after trying it initially, even though we live in the country and are used to wild situations and stuff.
Overall we had a good time. The campground hosts were really nice, and the bathrooms and showers were decent. However we probably won't be going back. There are so many other places we...
Read moreThe park is easy to find right off Hwy 21. Small town nearby with groceries and other supplies. The full hookup sites are disappointing – nothing but gravel and very close together. Firepit is in back of the site in common grass area. The partial hookup sites are much nicer with lots of room between sites. Some really nice walk-in tenting sites along the lake shore. Good boat launch, docks right by campground. Nice lake stocked with trout. Camp host on site and lots of birds to watch. Some easy hiking trails with great lake views. There are lots of “No Hunting” signs in the campground, apparently this park is heavily used by hunters during fall hunting seasons. The park is clean, with plenty of grass and some shade for hot days. Picnic area with muddy beach is a moderate walking distance from campground. Not a great place for swimming. Life jackets honesty program for kids and various planned...
Read moreThe park has some amazing views, it sucks that you can’t make a fire (wood or charcoal). Which is fair with all the Forrest fires during the summers. Camping here was not the best experience, the camping spots I booked at the park were 29&30. We were not able to have a good time because of all the Wasps flying around and coming to smell every sweet thing we had on our table. We had to create our own traps with drinks that attracted them but even this didn’t help. I noticed that only our campsite had a wasp problem. Many of the people around us had very few compare to my group. Definitely come prepared to store your food somewhere the wasp cannot smell. Night time was the only time where we could feel some what comfortable and had to pack and in the darkness because the morning time would be too hard with...
