This park has recently undergone a million-dollar renovation and features a kayak rental, kayak launch station, paved path, friendship circle with fire pit, covered pavilion, rubber turf playground, and more. The playground was presented as being an all-abilities playground, but it’s limited and lacks features that could have taken this to another level. Fall is beautiful to take in the colors of the leaves. A community art installation, Somonauk Sam the Slithering Snake, features rocks painted and added by members of the community. All are invited to add to it, but some frown and have been vocal about rocks being removed. Having been to dozens of parks in several states, it’s a nice park, but doesn’t fall in my top 10.

The park look nice, it has a lot of new changes. Trails and new things for the kids to play on and basketball court and best of all they now have fishing. But the bad thing is catch and release and you need fishing permit.

The playground could really use some TLC and it's not as toddler friendly as I had hoped but never the less my 2 year old had a blast! His favorite part was the rolling slide and the swings. The playground equipment isn't much so I would definitely recommend bringing a ball and or toy dump truck along. Lots of room to run. They have a basket ball and tennis court, also a decent size grassy area that you could throw a football around if you wanted. Also lots of picnic tables and benches and it's pretty well shaded also so that would help...
