This is a little hidden gem There's not a lot of biking you can do here on They're paved Greenway I think it's probably less than 2 mi. But the lake is just spectacular blue it reminds me of Banff Canada It's a small little lake but just Gorgeous with a nice Sandy beach. They look like there are a couple picnic tables too The paved looped around it is quite pretty but like I said not very long We also biked the loop around the marsh The marsh is pretty and I saw an alligator and filmed it on my last trip around it with my dog I also saw a snake Didn't feel threatened obviously by either one but probably won't take my dog on this loop again It's a little weird when you drive in it's a long road that at the end of it you can see cars that are parked there. We had a hard time seeing if this was a trailhead or this is where you go into the lake So the first time there was a little confusing we ended up passing that little parking area up and turning to the left and we parked behind some type of building but it was actually a trailhead for the everglade trail Would be a nice place to spend a day just picnicking and hanging out at the lake and relaxing The sign did say though that there's alligators and snakes in that little lake I guess I find that hard to believe because it's Crystal clear. I don't think I'd be too scared about...
Read moreThank you for opening Sterling Creek Park back up. There were some previous issues with the park being abused. Changes and improvements have been made and a park attendant has been hired. William is our guy who will be around to make sure guests respect the park. As for the lake, it is beautiful. You can swim, paddle board, kayak, and generally lounge around in the oddly blue water. As I understand it, the alge in the water is what makes it that color. There is no taste, smell, grimmyness to the water. It actually seems cleaner than most lakes I've been to. Let's talk wildlife. Yes, there are gators. They usually stay away for the swimming areas, just keep your eyes open when you or your kids are in the water. There are some large fish hanging around out there. I'm not a fisherman, but people keep coming back to fish, so something is there. There is a nice beach and grass area with picnic tables and trash cans. The only toilets are a walk outside the lake gate and down the road a little bit. It would be benifitial to have some Porta-Johns in the lake area. This is the only issue that I have with the park. Gates open at 6am and close at 8pm. No alcohol is permitted on...
Read moreI have lived 18 years in Savannah Ga and never knew this beautiful little lake existed. I live close by Richmond Hill. I’m always scouting out new places to bike and hike since there isn’t much around. Being from up North we have tons of beautiful biking and hiking trails for miles and miles. Trails here are only 1-3 miles. Not long enough for us. I did a search since I’m always in the Richmond Hill area for biking/hiking and found this place. I was definitely excepting better and longer trails but overall it’s a good place to walk or jog. Swim and enjoy the park area. Have a picnic.
When we got to the lake I was stunned at how beautiful and breathtaking it was. Reminds me when I went camping up near the Glacier in Montana. Crystal Clear Blue Waters. The beach front is really nice. White sandy beach with picnic tables. Good size beach area. Nice paved trail that goes around the lake. Nice for your dogs to walk around. Would recommend coming here but not...
