This is our go-to venue in Berkshire County during all four seasons. It's perched atop a hill and overlooks a pond in scenic Richmond, MA, just over the border from Pittsfield. We're originally from this area, but now live out of state. But when we're in the Berkshires visiting family, we always make it a point to stop at Balderdash for a glass of wine or to pick up a bottle or two to bring back home with us. We have also given many bottles as gifts, and each one has resulted in a new fan of Balderdash!
If you're in the mood for enjoying stunning views of the Berkshire Hills while sipping delicious locally-made wine, then look no further! And if you don't enjoy wine, well, they also have 1-2 beers on-tap. You can bring your own food, and they often have unique food trucks.
Check their website and/or Facebook page for really fun and unique events (think Family Feud or a modern version of The Newlywed Game!). They also often have acoustic musicians, so there's always something happening at Balderdash! It's such a cool spot.
The owners are Donna and Christian, and they greet and treat their guests like they are old family friends, so we always feel at home. You can also tell that they love their community, and they pour their love back into it via wine and support. They walk the walk.
Their wine is absolutely outstanding. In the summer, we love their wine slushies. We recommend mixing the red and the white! It's an adult version of a Slush Puppie! đ
If we could give Balderdash Cellars more than 5 stars, we most certainly would. They deserve...
Read moreDrove to winery from Connecticut! Was on our list of wineries to visit. Wife and I enjoy visiting wineries and quite often purchase several bottles of wine to keep on hand for various events. Checked the web site for Balderdash prior to making trip, just to assure I would be aware of any restrictions that might be in place. Saw that as of July 3rd reservations were no longer required and/or accepted. Upon our arrival there today, July 3rd, we were greeted by a gentleman who asked for our name, for our reservation. I explained the web site stated we did not need one and further stated they would not be accepted! The gentleman agreed with me, stating, the wording was rather vague and could easily be misinterpreted. This gentleman was curious and stated he is the one would posts such information on the web site. Needless to say it was a wasted trip, waste of time and regardless how theyâre wine might taste, my wife and I will never know, I would not venture another trip to this winery and discourage others from...
Read moreDo not miss the opportunity to visit this amazing winery ! Balderdash Cellars is a hidden gem, surrounded by mountains, ponds and lots of green space. Its location in the Berkshires is convenient to both New York and Massachusetts. We discovered this winery last year and return as often as we can.The wine is superb , with itsâs grapes grown in California. No other local wineries can compare. There are several choices and each one is rich and delicious. We had the pleasure of visiting on Motherâs Day. Donna and Christian , the winery owners , couldnât do enough to make every patron ( and there were lots) feel relaxed and comfortable. Every staff member was extremely helpful! I received a rose for Motherâs Day and settled in under a huge tree, to enjoy a day full of lush red wines, (plenty of white wine choices too) , great food from the food truck ( or bring your own food) and outstanding live music. Lots of families and dogs were picnicking and enjoying a picture perfect day. Do not miss this place. It is...
