James River Park System Pony Pasture Trail — Attraction in Richmond

From September of 2017 until November of 2020, we lived in the Stratford Hills neighborhood and got to enjoy the beauty of the James River Park System. It was wonderful to enjoy the rapids of Pony Pasture, and we used to bicycle down Longview Drive to Riverside Drive and view the wonders of nature. It also was a pleasure for us to walk down along Pony Pasture Trail and see some examples of old growth forest. WOULD NOT RECOMEND

This place is very dangerous, the exit is RIGHT in the rapids! I'm 13 and I went with my mom, my grandma, and my moms boyfriend, grandma got swooped away and we got so many bruises and cuts from struggling to get back! And too many steps for TUBING, go to cape Charles instead 💕

If you like the Steps then it was an alright experience, just alot of pain and fear happened towards the end, and the rafts didn't seem stable, and the air plug was sticking out from the inside...

Pony Pasture is a great walk and park! The trails are beautiful, with the James River adding serene sounds of water to the experience. There are a lot of trails to try out, which keeps things novel. The drive to the park is also quite gorgeous. The only reason I gave this 4 stars is because of the parking lot. It hasn't been paved in many years, causing lots of huge pot holes throughout the lot.
