This is great place for easy hiking and exploring. The area has a quirky history -- there are all sorts of weird things to see and explore including earthworks that were used to contain the occasional explosion that happened during the very dangerous process of making black powder. There are also many displays describing the natural history, flora and fauna. I particularly enjoyed the display that described how Monarch butterflies migrate to and from the area. The park is large enough that you can easily do a 5 to 6 mile hike without backtracking. There is a fishing pier at the north end of the park; if you walk out onto the pier be very careful where you put your feet and don't let kids run loose -- I have seen many barbed hooks strewn around and even one sharp knife. If you are in the park and you suddenly hear a lot of very loud gunshots, then don't worry about it; the Richmond Gun & Rod Club is very close to the southwest corner of the park. The best BCN map to download ahead of time for hiking this park is "Accuterrra Outdoor Map (new) -- US...

This park is an absolute must do for all hikers and non hikers alike. The natural beauty, striking views of the bay, and fresh air are stunning. Walking the easy access trails was truly an enjoyable experience. What a pleasure to hike and discover the senic views from all viewpoints. We discovered this gem and will continue to visit this park many times as a walking delight. The picnic areas with tables, benches, and restrooms are so inviting. I look forward to planning a family event here. Recomend you give this place a try...

Enjoyed our Monday morning here. Very peaceful, relaxing and not crowded. Cool breezes, started with a sweatshirt and by the afternoon tee shirt weather.

Certain areas dogs are allowed off leash. Please pick up after your fur babies.

We walked along the shore and did the Bayview trail, 4.6 miles. Clean trails, friendly people. Saw a lot of old bunkers along the way.
