I am thrilled with my Farm box!! My son in Atlanta subscribes to a CSA and I was there when it arrived. Immediately I knew I wanted this. I found Whipporwill Farms and discovered they did provide such a service, but that the Lowcounty Farm Box was on a wait list. I didn't hesitate to add my information to get a spot on the list. Not 5 minutes later, the Farmer Herself called me and explained there was room for more subscribers for the Farm Box. YAY!! at the end of the month, an email is sent that is very detailed on how to order on their site. Regardless, I found a way to get lost and texted the number that called. Immediately they replied to me with even more detailed instructions!! (It wasn't difficult, I am!) Last Thursday was my pick up day. I'm so thrilled with this, I cannot give enough compliments! They offer a meat/veg combination and I thought I'd be disappointed, but I AM NOT!! I've never even heard of Coppa Pork, but my son insisted I order lots of it! We'll have it for Easter Dinner. In closing, if you've never had a farm grown, local radish, you have not eaten dish at all. Radishes are so underrated, with a little salt, amazing!! Thank you, CEO in Overalls, for reaching out. I'm a customer for as long as you tend your forest raised pigs! ♥ Pictured here: my adorable radishes/ Small Lowcounty Farm Box/Oyster mushrooms Edited to add Pic of meal made with Farm...
Read moreMy family and I have visited the farm three times, twice to stay overnight in the retro camper, and we LOVE IT. This is a WORKING farm, which means in any given day you will see Marissa and James do more work than most of us do in a month. The farm is a choose your own adventure experience. If you want to relax and sit by the fire surrounded by southern woods and listen to the animals thrive around you, you can do that and it's lovely. If you went to jump into the mud and wrangle a goat, refill feed buckets, gather eggs and try to keep up, Marissa will let you! Just ask for a job! One of my favorite things about the farm is the retro camper. My husband and I would love to have our own someday, but for now is it's just tents for us. The retro allows us to have our own camper for a weekend! It's a sweet camper, perfect for a couple or family of 3-4. We have stayed with our two year old and had a great time. Plenty of room to cook, sleep, relax, and even a toilet and shower for convenience. I can't say enough good things about Whipporwill. Marissa is one of the most honest and transparent people I have ever met. She will share with you all the good and amazing parts of starting her farm, but she will also share every challenge and setback. Talking to her a refreshing joy. Visit the farm, enjoy the fresh meat you can feel good about eating, I recommend the jalapeno...
Read moreI have followed Marissa on Facebook for awhile now. I love how she is so informative yet so real about her farm life. She is definitely the next HGTV homestead star!! You not only get the real life farm experiences but you get her family and real life survival of managing a commercial farm. I have been tending chickens and bees along with a raised garden for the second season. I hired Marissa to come consult me on what I could change, do better, or what she recommended. I learned so much in our time together and afterward made her recommended changes to better our mini farm. Following that I visited her farm. I have to say, what an eye opener. I learned a lot in a short time about regenerating our forests an making our land more viable. I’ll definitely put some of Marissa’s wisdom to use! On top of an AMAZING farm experience I got to meet James and Ellie! They just make you feel welcome from the time you arrive until the time you leave. I’m looking forward to not only returning to the farm but getting to spend more time learning from...
