Read moreThe crowds this weekend were intense. I literally spent all day trying to find somewhere to have a picnic. Thankfully I found this place. I probably shouldn't even review it because then more people will know about it. However the mosquitoes and deer flies and horse flies were intense. Even with bug spray they ate us alive. I probably got 20 or 30 mosquito bites no joke. It is a beautiful area but I'm not sure what you can do to protect yourself. I have read a combination of oils with the bug spray works better so maybe I will try that in the future. Or a different spray might work I used deep woods. Read moreThis is a comfortable and respectful place to spend some quiet time and check out the memorial to you know McCloud from the TV series set in NYC where he rides through New York on a horse. Pretty cool series in the 70's. I guess Dennis Weaver was a person that really respected this Earth as his house outside of Ridgway Colorado was constructed in a way to represent this. We have not been to it, but I believe you can take a tour of the house. As you are driving south from Montrose to Ridgway the Park is to the right before you arrive at the light in Ridgway. You cannot see the park from the road because of the elevation difference. This is again one more supprising thing to see around...
