This trail is a real butt-kicker. I used it as an approach to the A.T. and let me tell you, I was looking forward to curling up and going to bed. The trail is stunning and the view at the top is well worth it. I highly recommend backpacking up to the tentsite, setting up for the night and day hiking to the top, go all the way to the end of the Wright trail, it's absolutely worth it! 360° view in the fall is breathtaking. It was brutal getting up there with a pack on and it was so windy at the top, it was hard to stop and enjoy it. Pick a non-windy, fall day, have lunch, hike down and stay at the super awesome, creekside campsite. Adventurous, challenging and gorgeous!

We had a great hike today 😊. We turned around about 6 miles in because of the snow still on the trail. It was a little too deep for the dog. We post holed for about mile or so. It was a warm partly sunny day. Muddy in some parts and a little icey crossing the water ways. The hike was a steady climb up at parts. Nothing too strenuous. We will definitely be back when the snow is gone. A great day in the woods for sure 😊

There are tent sites located about 3.5 miles up the trail. At first glance it looks like it's only one site by the river but follow the little path up the hill behind the first site and you'll find a bunch of tent site and a fire pit! Beautiful trail, long gradual incline with lots of above treeline hiking towards the top. And many spots to swim of course! Moderately challenging, and takes about 8 hours round trip.

I have hiked from the trailhead to the campsite twice, haven't gone the whole way to the AT yet. It is about 2.3 miles uphill to the campsite which makes the distance seem longer. When you get to the campsite sign (just before a stream crossing) follow the trail that branches off to the right and goes uphill. If you don't see an open area with a large stone fire ring, you're not at the campsite yet. The trail up to the campsite is pretty overgrown and made me think that the campsite was at the bottom of the hill the for time. Keep going until you see the...
