Elk Fork Lake — Attraction in Ripley

Pros: Great fishing area! Great area to take the dog and the kids while fishing on land since the loading dock is so low. You can catch small to medium blue gill and any size bass here as far as I've seen. Rarley do you see people here during the week.

Cons:Needs a small area for the kids to play or maybe a picnic table with a BBQ area. Also needs trash cans and a area to use the restroom. Would be nice if they had a area to rent canoes and kayaks. Would also make a good camping area to rent if they cleared some space on the other side of the lake. weekends...

This is a great lake to fish in the summer, plenty of trees in the water but not enough most times to get congested. There are big bass in the lake and all sorts of other fish to catch. The main bank near the boat ramp isn't large but there are plenty of places near the road to fish at, if one wanted to; Lots of parking most days. WARNING, this lake is a very open lake, so it does receive a fair amount of wind, so you'll want to plan for that if you don't want to fish a windy day. Elk Fork Lake is located out Gay Road off Route 33 from Ripley, WV. It's a beautiful lake that is man made for fishing and boating.

Free to use!! Great parking area to enjoy the lake for fishing! There are a lot of trees in the water so no fash speed boats allowed in this lake, but trowling motors allowed and perfect for kayaks.
