Rikert Outdoor Center — Attraction in Ripton

Not for Beginners!!!! The 2km loop that is always "maintained" consists of steep uphills and steep downhills that I would not consider cross-country skiing and certainly not for beginners!! Conditions were also unbelievably icy and the only way to get up or down the hills was to skate ski. Really very dangerous. Stop telling folks that this is a loop safe for beginners!! We did not enjoy ourselves and wish they would have been honest about the conditions and skill level needed when we had called ahead of time. yours, Brave...

We went several days after Christmas and the conditions were terrible. There was an older woman working at the front desk who was unkind and impatient from the start which felt very unwelcoming. We wish they had told us that the conditions were so poor — branches and dirt sticking out in places and the snow so worn that maneuvering was difficult.
