We had an awesome time here today with our children and grandkids. We were almost ready to leave when a short heavyset women approached us and told us dogs were not allowed in park. I advised her that the dog was a service animal and was allowed by law. Our dog was wearing proper tags and harness stating he was a service dog. This lady was rude and aggressive and told us she could tell us to leave. I advised her that it was against the law to tell a disabled person to leave due to their service animal. She was hateful and disrespectful. I advised her I also have all the proper paperwork and offered to show her but she said that she was going to go call her boss then she walked away from us as I was still trying to talk with her. As she walked away I did follow her and called after her to which she ignored. When I finally caught up to her, I offered her a card that has the law on it regarding people with disabilities and their service animals. She refused to take the card and again walked away. Advised her that she should read the law and share with her employer so another disabled person does not have to be exposed to such disrespectful and humiliation as they are trying to enjoy their family in a beautiful park. We have never had any problems traveling with my husband's service dog, we have been to restarants, marketd, hotels even flown across country with my husband's service animal. His dog was always on a leash or in someone's arms. QMy husband has had cancer, stroke, lupus and many other health issues, which is no one's business and against the law to ask him about. he was so upset after this lady's attack, which my whole family witnessed, that he would not stay and took his service animal and sat in car untill the rest of our family was packed up and we'll left early due to this person's attitude and ignorance of the law! I hope that you will share this information with all your employees. I also left a card with the law on it in your...
Read moreNO DOGS ALLOWED* This is a great little park, and it looks like it may host events in the warmer seasons. Lots of interesting historical buildings, markers, and plaques. Unfortunately, we drove from over an hour away with the whole family, 2 cars, and a dog, only to find out WHEN WE GOT THERE that dogs are not allowed (we saw nohing online---should have checked reviews). That was very frustrating, but we had to let the dog relieve himself. We took him out of the car for about 10 minutes, only to have 2 neighborhood dogs assaulting ours. They wouldn't leave him alone, and we did take him to the car and alternated between sitting with him in the a.c. There were 2 canines roaning around with no obvious caretaker, yet one dog had a tag indicating a local home. So, the reason other dogs are not allowed, it would seem, is because someone local allows their canines to roam free on the property. We stayed for less than an hour, took some pictures, and drove home. I would recommend the park just DON'T...
Read moreThe mill appears to be in excellent condition, at least externally. There are several explanatory placards around to give more history of the mill and other buildings on the property. I personally do not feel that it is worth the $5 it cost to enter. While the buildings were nice and the grounds well-kept, I was disappointed that you could not enter any of the buildings (thought obviously vandalism is a major risk if they were open and not monitored at all times). There was a sign on the mill that states it operates one Saturday a month, but I wish I had known this prior to visiting and paying. I could not find any info online about the park hours or anything...
