We wish to thank your staff there...especially Meredith who helped us to arrange our family gathering there. For several months, she worked with us to assist us in lining up our plans for a special 80th Birthday event...for about l0-l5 family members and friends. She was exceptionally kind and sensitive to our wishes and requests; we appreciated her friendship through all these communications.
When we arrived this past October 27...for our 5-day residence there, she had fresh fragrant flowers in the entry room, a decanter of bourbon, a special note of "hello", and an outline of helpful words to guide us. She had lights on, doors unlocked (in the House and in the Smoke House) , which gave us an most warm sense of welcome and greeting (as though we were coming home & finding a great embrace of fellowship )... with every amenity stocked and waiting (including some Hermitage caps to brighten our memories and shade our brows on walks !).
Erica came in to give us her helping hand, as well. She was nearby all the time we were there, giving us encouragement and guidance as we enjoyed the kitchen, the public rooms, and our daily use of the dining porch. She comfortably made certain our bedrooms were in order and any particular need we might have, assured.
She stopped in, and made herself available...with a kindly touch of friendship, which we appreciated. She was delightful.
The ladies in the office were not bothered with some of our deliveries of mail and packages (some surprises for the Birthday Boy !)...and, they brought these to us, right away. We appreciated their thoughtfulness.
Really, your group of leadership there and of daily care....were each one exceptional in their business of making us comfortable,...with every convenience they could muster and provide.
Please commend, and praise, and reward: Meredith and Erica (and Ashley en absentia !); you have a fine group of employees who are
fine curators of the estate and ever better hostesses to every guest===
We enjoyed our stay; we all needed this family time with one another. We found ourselves deep into 'memory making' and then, with nothing to do or plan, but to relax, kick back our troubles, take on the serenity of the Farm, and... just enjoy the camaraderie and companionship of familiar faces and beloved personalities.
You all have renovated the House with perfect care and good convenience; we liked the art work and the easy seating. We found the modern touches in kitchen and baths, just right. We could sense the history there...and then, 'the now-a-days' sort of ambiance' which contributed so much to our pleasure and to our pure enjoyment of the premises. We felt we ' had come back to Tara' ... and 'Mammy was there' in spirit, to enfold us in her apron and gracious embrace ! We felt at ease in mind and nicely pillowed in heart You have our appreciation and gratitude; we do hope to return for another special family gathering...sometime. We wish you well as you continue to offer this sanctuary and retreat to any of us...who will savor its beauty and peacefulness of place. Blessings on your staff and all of you...as you add to the--- wideness of welcome---at The Hermitage.
We all say: Merci beaucoup. Tak, Gracias, vielen Dank, & thousand thanks and words that indicate the value we felt* of all you provided,
Ron Watson and Wanda....Ronda Watson...and all our Family members who join us, happily, in...
Read moreWe took the Churchill Downs and Hermitage tour and were surprised by the limited amount of time spent at Churchill Downs. We expected much more time touring the track and facility. We spent about 20 minutes at trackside watching horses train ( Amazing and loved this time), we watched the greatest Race video and that was the end of the Churchill Downs tour. Our guide left us and we had no idea what to do next. The Museum staff told us to google address to the Hermitage which is 30 minutes away. The Hermitage was beautiful and our guide was sweet however we were surprised at the amount of time spent touring gardens as we were expecting much more closeup time with horses. The lunch was unique and our teens didn’t eat much given how unusual the food was. The stable tour and parade of foals was enjoyable and we loved the time spent at the stables. If u want to spend time at Churchill Downs and around horses I would recommend a different tour. If u go into this tour with appropriate expectations it is lovely. I would suggest the Hermitage and the CD museum communicate better to guests regarding...
Read moreSecond time here. Came for dinner with my mom and 3 sisters in Oct 2023, Apps were amazing! Main dishes were good but overly salted for a couple of my sisters, seems like the kitchen's tasters were off that night. Desserts were phenomenal. Cocktails were good and delivered fast.
Went on Art Walk after, which was amazing. We had a rollator for my elderly mother and it worked great. Only issue is having to schlep down several flights of stairs in order to arrive at the Art Walk. For anyone with mobility issues, it is advisable to do the Art Walk from the path outside of the kitchen, since it is all flat/handicap accessible. From there, you just go in and out that same way, so you can avoid those stairs. Becomes an in and out and not a loop, but you will still get the great experience.
The farm is beautiful, well-maintained, and a very special place to go with your loved ones. Went once in June with a friend, and came right back in Oct with my fam. Highly recommended for dinner and...
