We had a great Tour with Jeremy. I really recommend that anyone looking to see this place tries the tour if you can, obviously if you are here when a tour is offered. For now he said it’s offered on Fridays at 2 pm and Saturday at 10 am and hopefully they’ll add a Sunday tour for July/2024. This place has a lot of history. I’m not from Indiana, so it was very informative for me. Jeremy’s storytelling is fascinating!! He really transported us back to those dates and all his anecdotes were really interesting and entertaining too. The tour lasted 2 hours. We got there with a Van, not walking, and since the way to get there is really steep and there is a warning sign at the beginning of the road, is very convenient for seniors and small kids, or anyone with a disability. In my case, I really wanted the guided tour and the storytelling. Dogs are allowed if you are walking. There is another way to go down and up and that is by taking the trail #3 … that is not too steep and is easier on the return. Even though the trails are not too transited, they are very safe (the Ranger...

Read moreVery interesting piece of history. Rose Island has few visible signs of the place it once was, but it was fun to imagine it in it's heyday. There are many informative signs, placed throughout, telling about the place and water level markers from the flood all around the park. Amazing to think of how high the river was. Rose Island is accessible through the state park. You can walk the steep paved road or the longer dirt trail. Both lead to the entrance of Rose Island. The dirt trail was more fun. It gets pretty narrow and my elbow brushed some nettles. If you don't really like hiking, take the road you'll get there quicker and cleaner. Just remember, if you go down the hill, you'll have to come back up. The amusement park had wide easy paths. We had the place mostly to ourselves to explore. I...
