This is a GEM đ of a place ladies and Gentlemen, step right up! What an unexpected, treasure trove of unique artifacts from a bygone time in American history. I could have spent a week here, but alas we only had the afternoon.
Itâs definitely off the beaten path but hard to miss once youâre in the neighborhood. Plenty of parking on the side of the building.
Once inside you know instantly that youâre in for a unique experience. The sights and sounds transport one to a time and place of intrigue and excitement. I could almost smell the popcorn and elephants đ! They have old side show banners, carnival đĄ rides(for show), relics from past STARS , oddities and curiosities, and much more. There is something for everyone. My personal favorite was the old sewing machine turned cotton candy maker!!! Seems simple with all the wonders here, but I think itâs a perfect example of the time and speaks to the inventiveness of the age.
If you canât tell already, I highly recommend the Local Gem of a place. Iâm so grateful they are preserving this history for future generations. We will never see another time like the age of the America...
Read moreWhat a hidden gem! I've lived in central FL for years, stumbled across Showmen's Museum recently and made the (short and convenient) trip this past week. Beautiful displays of the things remembered from carnival/midway - fascinating history on everything. This was such a treat, felt like I was 10 yrs old again at the Citrus Festival in the Orange Dome in Winter Haven. An actual ferris wheel and carousel inside, amazing art work - will return soon, so many things to see - and a great movie of circus/carnival history. Friendly, helpful staff, free popcorn (that wonderful aroma added to the nostalgia) - this was such an enjoyable day - thank you! While I have invoked the nostalgia angle here, I think kids would also enjoy - these are images they have seen if not had the opportunity to experience. Also, if you're a reader, think Ray Bradbury's carnival scenes -...
Read moreWe had such a great time visiting the Showmenâs Museum in Riverview, Florida. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel so welcomeâwarm, friendly, and genuinely happy to share their love for the industry. A special thank you to Michael, who was not only incredibly knowledgeable about the circus and fair world but also kind enough to share some of his personal stories with us.
The museum is a nostalgic treasure trove of old carnival pieces and memorabilia. From vintage signage to colorful displays, itâs like stepping back in time. One of the highlights was the massive lighted piece of an old arcade entrance and the miniature fair display.
If youâre in the area, this is definitely worth a visit. Whether youâre a history buff or just love a good walk down memory lane, the Showmenâs Museum offers a unique and heartwarming look into a magical part...
