OBX Inshore Charters — Attraction in Roanoke Island

Captain Matt i can’t speak highly enough about. He put us on a school of red drum and caught a ton of them. Heck, so many drums were caught that even the sharks wanted to take a bite (see photo below lol. He is incredibly efficient with putting new lures on after we lost a few😅. After the drums, he brought us to a sweet lil spot and caught a ton of speckled trout. With so many fish chomping at the lures, he threw in some extra lines and snagged quite a few extra to take home too! He gave us some knowledge on fishing from the shore and all in all, he kept everything entertaining with his friendly conversations and awesome humor. Captain Matt i would highly recommend for any and everyone and will honestly and gladly be fishing with him again! Hands down, 10/10 best fishing trip to date. Matt knows the waters like the back of his hand and put us right on the fish within minutes. We were reeling them in all day!

Not only is he an expert guide, but he’s also personable, patient, and truly passionate about what he does. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or a total beginner, Matt makes sure everyone is comfortable and having a great time.

The boat was clean, well-equipped, and perfectly suited for the day. You can tell he takes pride in every detail. We made memories that’ll last a lifetime — and came home with an impressive haul to prove it.

I’m not sure if we could have had a better day of fishing. Captain Matt is laid back guy but he can put you on the fish. We started off hitting a couple of off shore wrecks. We caught a few keeper sea bass but we were throwing back a few more than we were keeping. We moved a few times and by the third stop we were landing plenty of keeper sea bass and trigger fish. We even landed a 4.5 lbs citation sea bass. Things were just getting started. At this point we were happy with what we had caught, but Captain Matt asked if we wanted to take a little ride and get on the dolphin (Mahi Mahi). Of course we said heck yeah.
