Outer Banks Outdoors — Attraction in Roanoke Island

My family and I had the absolute best time ever! If you’re looking for a fun, memorable outing with your friends and family, I 1000/10 recommend fishing w/ Ches Tyson. Myself, who has never fished before, and my sister who is an avid fisher, both enjoyed ourselves to the fullest, gained useful knowledge about fishing; and had the best time of our lives during our experience while also creating unforgettable memories with our family. Initially, I had no interest in attending the trip as fishing isn’t my forte. Little did I know, the summer trip with OuterBanks Outdoors would be the first of many more to come. The trip is as hands-on as you want it to be, so I can honestly recommend this trip for any age group. Ches has a polite, well-mannered assistant who is patient, trustworthy with his work, and encouraging. If you want to be more independent, you can do that, or you can have someone help along the way. During our trip, we saw dolphins, a plethora of different kinds of fish, and sea turtles! The love Ches and his assistant have for fishing is transparently reflected & it makes the experience even more enjoyable. My entire family and I have already booked our next excursion for this upcoming summer & we encourage anyone thinking of attending the charter to do so as well. Another bonus is they clean the fish for you, so for the next week we had fresh fish for dinner. We had a great experience over vacation with Captain Ches and his mate Tom. Another charter actually recommended them to us. My girlfriend and I have experience fishing freshwater and the surf but this was our first time on a boat in the ocean. I actually own a fishing company so I had high expectations and they exceeded them and made it a great trip. We had some unexpected weather the morning of our trip with hurricane Dorian coming in and Captain Ches was very transparent and honest with us about the ocean conditions, and made sure we didn’t have a bad experience for our first time on the water. He took us out to see the ocean and then determined it would be best to bring us back inshore to fish the inlet. They kept us safe, made sure we had a great time regardless of weather, and together, they got us on a lot of Blues and Spanish and we had a blast. First time booking a fishing charter and there are plenty of options, however I’m glad I chose Salt Grit for our experience. From the initial meeting with first mate Hunter until the end it was complete professionalism and friendliness. My son and I booked a half day charter and had a blast. I told Hunter that I wanted my son to have all the action and to put him to work. In no time Hunter showed him the ropes from pulling the fish onto the boat to removing the hook and getting the line back into action. After a successful day of hauling in some beautiful fish and making great memories I was able to speak with Captain Ches. He’s a super nice, down to earth guy, who understands the importance of kids making memories even if it means losing a fish.
