Of course went while winterizing bathrooms BUT they have an alternate always open toilet, forget what they are called. Oh yeah the open maw straight to he**! Wooee I almost died BUT I didn't have to use the woods. So the 5 stars are because there IS a toilet among the all closed signs before April 1st. Even in the rain it was a beautiful little park area rich with some crazy history like the leftover chimney of a murdered man! The creek was mesmerizing & the walkways enticing to be walked upon.

Bicycle trail was blocked off the last time we went there, and that was the reason we drove there. It's ordinarily a great place to walk the dogs, or ride a bicycle along the river. The river launch site was open, but that's not why we were there.

Absolutely beautiful here. Make sure you gas up and use the bathrooms before taking the drive out here in the winter because there are no restrooms and nowhere to get gas. The views here are amazing and was peaceful and relaxing.

This is among the better equipped boat launches on any of the rivers in the area. It puts the Ocoee, Hiwassee, and upper chattahoochee to shame in comparison. The parking is mostly shaded and the gorge seems to be about 10-15 degrees cooler than the low country so I don't have to worry as much about opening an oven door when I get in my car. The actual put in is protected and still water for about 15 yards but there is a hard eddyline when you enter the flow followed almost immediately by a class II+ rapid so it's a quick start. Overall it's one of many reasons the nantahala is my favorite river in...

This launch site is for commercial rafting. I frequently get shuttle rides from the Nantahala Outdoor Center and this is where they take you to put in. If you're a rafting customer or renting a ducky, they will bring you here to start your trip. This is just a little upstream of the Pattons Run public put in and includes one more little class 2 rapid on the way to Pattons. There are porta potties here and no changing area. I don't believe there is public parking here, so if you want to run the Nantahala, you'll want to go to the public put-in at...
