The Farm: Clean, well organized and overall great. Ample amount of parking.
The owner and the sales staff: Amazing in one word. Ones I uttered out what I want, they took me to exactly where it is, picked one that fits exactly my description and I was as happy as a 5 years old with Halloween candy.
The product: Amazing quality of live cow, goat and lamb. They also have really good butter which I loved along with honey.
Now where did they go wrong? The finishing which no matter how great you start, that's what people remembers. The place where they slaughter is small but that was not an issue since there was hardly 5 customers when I was there. The problem was communication. I wanted my meat to cut in a certain way and specifically I wanted the legs to be whole however here is what I faced and I do believe rectifying these very small issues with long lasting impact could be easily be fixed.
There is a language barrier. The people in there hardly speak English and anything you say somehow slip past them. We had no idea what was going on in there We don't even know if the animal we took home was the animal we bought since you can't see a thing. The behavior of the people by the slaughterhouse is exact opposite of the people in the front They seem to favor some customers (previously known, relative, speaks the same language, color etc.) Again remember there was hardly 5 customers there so it was not busy.
How can these be rectified: It is very simple. Have someone who knows a thing or two about customer service, someone who cares about the business and who could be liaison between customers and the slaughterhouse.
Again remember perception is reality and taking step towards these easily rectifiable issues could stand this farm out from the rest. People don't pay for products nowadays they pay for experience and as a business you want to end the...
Read moreOverall clean, good animals, and good service by the Amish owners and Amish workers. I have experience doing the Eid here twice. My complaint is during Eid the ones doing the slaughtering and then de-skinning, they cut and do not wait enough time for the animal to finish bleeding out and the animal is clearly still alive while being dragged by the belt hooks to be hung upside down and de-skinned. They are supposed to wait for almost all the blood to drain and until making sure the animals stop trashing, go to sleep and pass away, before hanging them and de-skinning them. Also when it's busy they allow the animals to fall over off the laying tables just after they are cut (so they can quickly move on to cut the next animal) and they are then left fallen in the pool of the blood from the previous animals that were cut. This is absolutely not sanitary and also a disrespectful and fearful way for the animals to die. Also they forget to sharpen their knives after every cut, so sometimes the knives become blunt from the coagulated blood and after many previous cuttings, so they have to use more force and strokes than necessary to make the cut, which means more pain for the animals during slaughter. It's supposed to be razor sharp and take only one or two strokes so the animal feels the least amount of pain possible.
I actually said these comments to the slaughter area workers and still they just rushed and ignored me so I was very upset and felt both my money and beliefs were disrespected. If you want to do the Eid, I recommend the other farms that have better practices and follow...
Read moreExceptional Farm Experience with Delicious Halal Meat.
I recently visited this farm to purchase a lamb, and I must say, it was an outstanding experience from start to finish.
Upon contacting the owner, I was impressed by their prompt and helpful response. Despite driving nearly 3 hours to reach the farm, I was greeted by Ben, who was incredibly kind and welcoming. As someone with veterinary experience worked with medium and big animals, I was pleased to see that all the animals appeared healthy and well-cared for.
One aspect that sets this farm apart is its commitment to Halal practices. They have dedicated individuals who ensure the process aligns with Halal requirements. Additionally, The entire process of selecting and preparing the lamb was efficient and seamless. It only took 30 minutes from choosing the animal to the final preparation. to my surprise, they provided the cutting service FREE of charge. This efficiency showcased the farm's professionalism and ability to deliver high-quality products in a timely manner.
I recommend this farm to anyone in search of high-quality meat. The taste of the lamb was exceptional, and the pricing was very reasonable.
Overall, my visit to this farm deserves a solid...
