Features of Borden are;
-Large open spaces for starters, enjoy a walk (not as scenic as Stoney Creek but still great for a neighborhood park) with nice spots for a warm day picnic on the grass, or just sitting under one of the hill trees to relax and do what you enjoy- maybe read a book or some open air study. Also great for something active like tossing a football or Frisbee with some pals, which are a couple of the things I enjoy.
-Tennis court(s) 1 or 2 I believe.
Outdoor hockey rink which is ice during the cold season, then converted to roller during the warm season.
Basketball courts, 3, I believe.
A large children play area with various entertainments for them, which is also conveniently located next to the lavatory facilities with water. Also vending machines for snacks or drinks.
Batting cages to go practice your swing, or smash some meteors for the experienced hitters.
Dedicated field areas for hosting baseball and soccer games, complete with benches if you happen to be a spectator and would like to admire some sports.
Extremely well lit during night games or dusk hours (before closing) and also quite close to the sheriff substation, as well as being in a very nice community- so very safe.
Lots of parking at both ends of the park.
Toawrds the back of the park where the soccer fields are located, and near the wooded section, there are some very nice trails to walk and explore if you wish to satisfy your adventurous personality.
The park is host to the most Magnificent local FIREWORKS show every year. Quite astounding the design effort put into the display and synchronization of the colors and explosions. Also this night is paired well with a festival in the park filled with live music, food, games, people 1000+, lights, and an overall great fun atmosphere. When the festival begins, streets and roads are usually closed or limited to thru traffic because of the influx of easily hundreds of people walking to the festival, filling both sides of the streets/sidewalks in all directions approximately a half to one mile. If you have little ones, bring a wagon to pull them for your convenience. Think and plan ahead for all that you will need for your day or night at the festival, as parking will not be close on this day. However, I cannot speak ahead for every year to come, maybe this year there may be some very limited parking spots available for purchase due to the event, or possibly some for slightly disabled people - that you will have to check. In any case, when the fireworks go off, they illuminate and fill the sky with magnificent colors and loud sounds able to be seen from a distance if you prefer not to get so close. People are kind and strangers will not hesitate to help you with and questions or directions. Don't bring any pets this night as it may be prohibited during the event (maybe not) but in any case animals will not enjoy the fireworks show. Maybe most importantly, don't forget some type of bug spray /lotion deterrent, just in case. You can't enjoy the night atmosphere if...
Read moreThis is primarily an Athletic Park with a full array sporting options such as Soccer, Hockey(roller blade), Tennis, Softball/Baseball, Batting cages, Basketball courts, a playground, and Volleyball or bagman which is setup on grass for some reason(???). All in all great park with many things to do. I would have given a 5 star but there are some obvious flaws like the volleyball setup, the fact there is no dedicated football field, and with a park of this caliber and size why aren't there things like a skate park, rock climbing wall, BMX course, or any of the other non traditional sports the younger generations and non mainstream sport enthusiasts enjoy? If they would Incorporate these few additions then this would easily be the best park in southeastern Michigan hands down...
Read morePickleball courts are being taken up by Leagues Monday thru Thursday 6-8 pm plus Saturday mornings. This is a prime time for many of us who work during the day. We built an amazing community in the last 2 years and if you read comments on FB, we are very disappointed and outraged at the same time that this sport is now being monopolized for GREED. This is just not right. I am about to give up this sport as anywhere you turn now, you have to pay. Public park courts should not be used for this purpose. We pay taxes and should be able to use these courts without limitations or...
