Hackamore Ranch — Attraction in Rockdale

My family and I stayed at the Hackamore Ranch Lodge for a weekend in February 2023 and absolutely loved our stay. Albina, the owner, was very responsive with my questions and accommodating to our needs. I would highly recommend staying here as the house was very clean and the property was beautiful.

The house: When we arrived, my first impression was how quaint the house was and I immediately noticed how CLEAN everything was. There were plenty of towels available for us (7 people), and the bathrooms were stocked with shampoo/conditioner and her wonderful smelling handmade soap. The kitchen had all of the basic necessities you need to cook. The pots/pans were very nice, and there was a lot of cabinet space for the items that we brought. She provided coffee as well. :) The bedrooms were spacious, beautifully decorated, and the beds were very comfortable. There were extra blankets in the closets as well. The pillows were soft, yet comfortable, and we all got a great night's sleep. The kids loved sleeping on the top bunks in the bunk bed room too :) We loved eating dinner at the large dining room table. It was great to all fit at the table (and there was extra seating too). The the size/arrangement of the living room was great and enjoyed seeing the "vintage" versions of Monopoly and Scrabble on the fire place. We didn't have time to play but definitely hope to be back another time.

The outside: There is a table, chairs, and firepit on the back patio. The fire pit already had firewood ready for us and more available over to the side if we needed it. We enjoyed sitting around the fire both nights we were there. We also grilled one night -- it was nice to feel so at home even though we were away from home. The kids enjoyed laying in the hammock, and our dogs loved running around the back yard. It was a beautiful setting to sit around the fire in the country with a glass of wine each evening.

Other items: I purchased some of the soap, lotion, and dog tallow treats that Albina makes on her ranch. We loved it all. The soap/lotion smelled so good, and the dogs REALLY loved the tallow treats, so much so, that I bought extra to freeze and use later. Albina personally delivered what we purchased to us.

Tour: Due to our schedule of events during our stay, we were unable to coordinate a tour of the ranch, but really hope to be back soon and have one. The property looks so beautiful and we all want to learn more about what they do.

Amazing products, outstanding service and a must buy for those of us who value home grown, home managed farm/ranch products. Please support your local farmers/ranchers as much as possible, we need them more than most can imagine.

Purchased a box set of meats and dog treats. My opinion has not changed, the opportunity to purchase meats, dog treats from Hackamore family could not be better for my family. The quality of the meats is exceptional. Highly HIGHLY recommend any item available on their website. The convenience of Wolf Ranch Farmer's Market helps as well.

Can't say enough about Hackamore, outstanding meats, customer service and delivery. Always a pleasure to be able to purchase meats this way. Again, Hackamore is a must for meats and more.

Still buying everything I can from Hackamore. Quality is unmatched, the beef and organ meat are outstanding to cook with, season and best tasting beef anywhere. Your body will thank you for providing the best possible meat for your consumption. Cannot reccomend Hackamore any stronger, just simply the best.

One of my favorite farmers/growers in Austin. The quality of the lamb and beef is unmatched, it’s the kind of quality you you would pay over $50 to $100 at a nice restaurant. That’s because the owners take real pride in their growing practices.

Most people think if an animal is “grass fed,” that its meat must be good, but there is more to it than that, a lot more! You have to take into account what kind of grass they are being fed, is it stacks of processed hay or do the animals get to roam and eat the grass from the ground. And if they get to roam, how much space do they have to raom?

I’ve visited most farms and ranches I buy my produce from, and I have been to Hackamore Ranch and got a full tour with the owner. They have over a 1,000 acre of land, so each of their cows receives more than an acre of space to grow into an healthy adult.

You also have to look at if the cows are given growth hormones or antibiotics. Some meats say they don’t use hormones or antibiotics, but they still vaccinate the cows. I was told they don’t do any of that, and if any of their cows or lambs get sick, they pull them out and don’t sell it in that stock.

Honestly, you can’t find better meat in Austin, and you can see the quality just by looking at it, it’s very red and nutrient dense. It’s some of the healthy and best tasting food you can put...
