I was rather shocked on my visit yesterday to see a huge section of the gravel hill destroyed. Apparently to install a new trail. Curious if there was any habitat assessment, since this destroyed area is a site that has numerous rare species records including Rusty-patched Bumble Bee. Also wondering why a large stretch of forest was bulldozed in the middle of forage season? Why is it that some of the same people advocating to save Bell Bowl Prairie just bulldozed a similar land? Are we only supposed to be environmentally conscious when it's...

1st time walking/hiking off the main paved path. Clean and big with shaded and sunny parts. There are up and downhill parts of trails, but as an out-of-shape 50-something it was fine and still a decent workout. Scenic bridge across the Kish is nice. As a newb I wish the trails had more and better markings and posts. We had to use my compass app and a screenshot of the trails from a Google search to find...

I love this part. Lots of great trails and on top of it all the bridge. This is a fantastic place to bring a bike or even just to go hiking. I like to do a lot of trail running. And there is so much to see with all of the rocks and rules. Plus there's a good bit of History here from when it was a military training ground. Each year the Rockford roadrunners hosts the turkey trot. One of the...
