Hitchcock Creek Trail — Attraction in Rockingham

Situated along scenic Hitchcock Creek, this little park is one of the unknown gems of Richmond County. The remains of an old mill loom near the picturesque little creek, a welcome reminder of the past removing you from our ever changing present. A long and winding trail takes one into the woods, crossing the creek at points. A small playground offers the kids a chance to play as the adults sit and talk in the picnic area. Grew up on Hitchcock Creek (aka. Sweet Creek) flows behind The Old Klopman Mill, Cordova before emptying into the Pee Dee River 2 miles down stream. Caught many a fish, and built small lean 2 shelters as a teenager. I'm going to Kayak down it one day.
