We make a point to visit Old Victoria at least once a year—usually for Victoria Days or Log Cabin Day—because there’s just something about this little corner of mining history that keeps calling us back. Tucked away and definitely off the beaten path (don’t expect cell service or coffee shops), this tiny town is in the slow but steady process of being restored. And that’s part of its charm. The log homes, the handmade details, the stories that still cling to the floorboards—it’s a place that feels like a living memory. It’s not for folks looking for hustle and bustle, but if you love the quiet unfolding of local history, especially Michigan’s mining past, this place is worth the detour. And just a bit further up the road? Victoria Dam and Falls—another peaceful, picturesque stop that rounds out the visit perfectly. 📸 We’ve shared some of our visits and favorite moments on Angela Joy Adventures (Instagram + YouTube), if you want to see what makes this place so special through our eyes. It’s always an adventure… even the quiet ones.

Met one of the people who run the place, wonderful lady had a great conversation. Due to Covid-19 2020 has kept the buildings shut to the public. However the grounds are still available to explore and ther NCT goes through the grounds as well. Will definately go again in the future and explore the buildings. If able donatations are still being accepted, they need the help to keep the place going!

Went upbfor log cabin day. The three building you could go in were interesting. The cinnamon rolls were amazing. And loved getting a chance to try a crank sewing machine and got to make a project while I was there.

There is GREAT potential here! Tons of ruins and an old mining site plus workers homes/townsite. Unfortunately it seems underfunded as the restored buildings were all locked up and windows covered, there was no attendant on either day of our visit and the trail signs are fairly poorly marked (with the exception of the blue hashed north country trail that runs from New York to north Dakota). Somewjere my husband and I missed a turn and got off the mining loop. Once we reached the summit peak we knew we had gone off our anticipated trail and turned around before we got too far out of our way. But in any case it was a beautiful hike and there are gorgeous views along the way as well as a...

I think the buildings might be in the same place as they were before and that's about as close to original interpretation as the whole place gets. There is some history there but as far as our tour went, I was far from impressed. Two separate groups came and left without even starting a tour because of lack of hospitality and despite the vast amount of inaccurate historical tools and decorations I would have rather paid to give...
