Great place for hiking and enjoying views. But be careful please, the the surface of the path is uneven and consists of large stones. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend to use a stroller for kids there and it can be very difficult for disable people. Also, it can be dangerous if it is thick fog. Please look at the attached picture.

There is interesting information about Rockland Lighthouse in Wikipedia:

“Rockland Harbor Breakwater Light is a historic lighthouse complex at the end of the Rockland Breakwater in the harbor of Rockland, Maine. Replacing a light station at Jameson Point (the northern end of the breakwater), the light was established in 1902, about two years after completion of the breakwater. Now automated, it continues to serve as an active aid to navigation. The light was added to the National Register of Historic Places as Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse on...

The breakwater provides a unique way to visit one of the area's fabled lighthouses. Along the way, enjoy views of Rockland and Owls Head, including the light at Owls Head. The walk from shore to lighthouse, across the breakwater, is just under a mile. It is a longer walk than many people are expecting, and without surrounding structures it is hard to gain a perspective that will help you gauge the distance. The terrain is uneven and large spaces between the stones make it difficult for walkers to maintain even strides. When wet or icy, be...

Always love to take the walk out to the lighthouse. This is definitely not a walk for anyone with any kind of mobility issues. The footing is not even, and you are walking on uneven boulders and going over large cracks. We did unfortunately see an older gentleman who had fallen and was getting bandaged up. According to those who work at the hospital, this is a daily occurrence so be careful. The walk is much farther than it looks and is almost a mile each way. It is a beautiful walk during nice weather. Wear...

Never a dull moment! We always have a good time walking the breakwater. We saw the fairy come in, we watched sailboats and the coast guard. Our children enjoy looking at the rocks and finding images, we found a whale stone! I recommend always taking a sweater as it's 15 degrees cooler and there's always a breeze. It's a7/8th of a mile walk on uneven stone, wear comfortable shoes!
