Sky-Vue Skateland — Attraction in Rocky Mount

We went for a field trip last year and it was a great experience. Tried going tonight and was HIGHLY disappointed. Two families bringing kids to skate. We had one child that wasn’t planning to skate. The man at the front ringing everyone up was very RUDE and was NOT welcoming at all!!! We were told the one child skating could not go in unless she had skates on. Also, been told she had to put the skates on and just sit there. Who are you to tell someone else’s child they have to put the skates on their feet. Definitely not mine! We were also told this is a place to skate and not a place to sit and hangout. But, excuse me we have 3 paying kids that want to skate. I see absolutely nothing wrong with one child sitting with 4 adults while the others skate. Wasted a 40 minute drive to this business to get treated this way. Had a great experience here tonight compared to other roller rinks! After jellybeans closed my friend Ty and I hadn’t skated in months because there was no other place as good as it until tonight! We had a blast, it wasn’t too strict with rules, you could skate freely and have a good time, and the owner Ms. Denice was super friendly to us for our first time making it feel like we had been coming here fore years. I enjoyed the crowd and everyone was super nice, we even ran into one of our old pals from jellybeans there. The rink is a little small for my taste and it takes me some getting used to especially because I can’t go as fast but that’s not a problem! Our third grade students attended Sky-Vue as their one field trip for the year, and we could not have been more pleased. From the very first communication, the owner was quick to respond and a pleasure to work with. All of the employees were also a pleasure! The facility was clean and a fun, inviting place to be. The STEM lesson was fabulous, and the skating lesson was so helpful. It was heart-warming to see how quickly the students caught on when they followed the directions from Denise and how they learned to over-come their fears. Many fell, but got up and kept trying.
