Every time we go to Rome we always say we will go here but just drive past. This time, we finally pulled in. I’m glad we did. This is such a beautiful place and I learned a lot from our experience. We had to wait foe about 5-10 min for our tour guide and then followed her up to the house (I thought it made more sense to ride in the trolley with the tour guide but whatever). She explained the home and a lot of interesting facts. I had no idea Sweet Home Alabama was filmed here which is neat (well some scenes were). My son kept asking a lot of questions and she answered all of them. After the tour she left and we went outside and were able to roam around on our own. We took our time exploring and had a lot of fun. I recommend coming here.

I'll be honest, my husband and I only came here because I wanted to see the house from Sweet Home Alabama. We got there just after the last tour of the day had been taken down to get the tour of the house, but a kind young guy offered to take us down anyway. We caught up with the tour that had only just begun seeing the house. Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgable about the house and the life of Martha Berry and made the tour very interesting. She even answered almost all of the questions one of the other guests had about the structure of the building and materials used (which was a LOT). Everything was gorgeous and well kept and everyone working there was so kind.

My group visited Oak Hill because of Sweet Home Alabama. When our tour guide learned that, she told us she could make the tour Sweet Home Alabama centered. She told us lots of info about filming, etc, but still gave us some info about Martha Berry, which was very interesting. After the tour, she let us walk the grounds and take pictures. It is an absolutely beautiful place and even though we came for SHA, we left with an appreciation for Martha Berry.

I came through here excited to show my mom the place filmed for Sweet Home Alabama, however ended up frustrated. I pulled up to see that the drive to the house was blocked by cones so I went into the museum. The guy at the counter said we had to pay and go on the tour to see it. So I asked him if we could just pay and walk up there..he said no and we had to be escorted and needed to wait for the tour at 1. So we waited an hour and came back. We go in and pay and then one of the ladies that was at the counter with the guy earlier says, "You paid so you can go walk up there." I was frustrated and told her the guy said we had to be escorted and wait til 1. Then she says you can just go. I wanted to do that in the first place, but had to wait an hour for nothing. All I wanted was a picture of the outside and had to wait an hour and pay for a...

This was a very interesting and educational place to visit. The students that are your tour guides or information guides are very knowledgeable and friendly. There is a lot of history to be found here. The buildings and the grounds are well kept and clean. It is a great place to bring school aged children to learn more about the past. Younger children must be well supervised because of the chance of destruction to antiques or important artifacts. There is the opportunity to get some fresh air walking the grounds or sitting in the gazebos. No food or beverages should be permitted in the buildings. And there isn't a place to order food so eat before or...
