Beautiful campus! Great nursing program as well as aviation programs. Small aircraft always flying around which makes for an interesting atmosphere. Professors are helpful and want you to succeed. Mostly a commuter school with a few dormitories on campus. Food is mediocre, so bring a sack lunch.

I was here for a formation opportunity. It is a beautiful campus. Well maintained. Staff were kind and welcoming.

The nursing school eats their young. If you have a disability, are chronically ill, heck I guess even if you get sick amidst a pandemic in general, don't expect to be accommodated. If you don't have mommy and daddy money to pay your way through school, don't expect them to understand the weight of being a full-time student and a full-time employee. They would rather you party every weekend if it means you're "devoted" to the program. Devoted in their eyes, meaning having no other obligations in life aside from school. Meanwhile, the ppl that aren't working are fooling around & less devoted than those trying to make a better living for themselves. Forget trying to be a high achiever they frown on those who want to someday serve in the military and repeatedly criticized my participation in AFROTC during my first year. If you miss their 77% exam average.. even by 0.03%.. your professors will not care. You will have to sit in front of a group of nursing school staff who will criticize you, make you cry, and insist you'll never do better and there's no way for you to be better despite having a very specific plan of how you will do better next semester. Then after they made you feel AWFUL. They'll call you and tell you congrats you're still in the program. Then when your life is falling apart the next semester and one thing after another keeps happening (catalytic converter was stolen, car was towed, my dog kept experiencing anaphylaxis due to living in mold, I was sick from living in mold and running myself so thin between work and school that I ended up hospitalized - ironically in the same hospital i did clinicals.) Maureen Moore will tell email you before you're ever even late to a make up clinical that you need to meet with her and you're absent even tho just that morning you woke up to your dogs face completely swollen and had to rush him to the vet and somehow still managed to make it on time. Then when you go to meet with her, despite all the Dr's notes in the world, she will insist that you're having a mental health crisis and that you need to take a break from the program.. back you into a corner, talk you in circles until you are crying and confused bc WHAT mental health crisis? The one that she caused by trying to force a change in what is supposed to be my future? Keep in mind that I was on high dose steroids from my breathing difficulties and my voice was so hoarse it was impossible for me to raise it at the time. She lied, accused me of calling her names 😂 said I was threatening to her and involved campus security to enforce that I would not be allowed to attend classes in person due to my unprofessional behavior 😒 I requested someone else be in the room bc I felt unsafe being backed into that corner, she kept gaslighting me. you know what I find unprofessional? First, forcing someone that is actively still struggling with a PHYSICAL illness to make up clinicals and secondly then accusing them of mental health issues due to previously conversations in which I confided in my academic team that I have ADHD 😂☠️ was told amongst this that there cannot be 100 Hailey's to accommodate. Meanwhile, Lewis is paying thousands of dollars in my scholarships and grants- which maureen was going to force my hand in having to pay those back if i stopped mid semester. Ultimately, lewis and the medical community will lose in this situation. I was a competent A and B nursing student and the nursing program's inability to have even an ounce of compassion caused me to, 4 weeks before the end of finals (and sick) figure out a way to somehow not fail my classes, unable to attend in person. I did, my clinical instructor had my back through it all and i dropped all of my classes after finals and left Lewis. I reached out to numerous "authority" figures at Lewis who basically told me the nursing school is their own entity and they have not much control. I am no longer pursuing nursing as a result of what I experienced here at Lewis. I hope Maureen is enjoying...

This is a review of the part time evening MBA program offered by Lewis University. At this point in time, Lewis U doesn't offer a full-time day program. I completed the MBA program in the fall/winter of 2015. Let's start at the beginning and go in order: Admissions process The admissions department receives an A+ in my experience. I would consider the admissions criteria for entrance into the program to be on the "Easy" side - Accredited undergraduate degree, application, phone interview, current resume, $50 fee, and No GMAT required. Transfer Credit - I was able to transfer in 3 courses from DeVry / Keller Graduate School of Management: Managerial Accounting, Managerial Finance, and Organizational Behavior. Being able to transfer in 3 courses is more than the 2 courses other MBA programs in the Chicagoland area would take in transfer. I'm not sure if this is an exception or the rule, double check to see if this has been updated. Financing The student loan process was really easy. The per course cost is around $2k plus books. Not as cheap as the state college/university programs, not as expensive as the nationally recognized programs (Northwestern, U of C, etc.) The ability to complete this program in the mid to high $20k range makes a high ROI (Return on Investment) possible from the Lewis U MBA. Professors / Instructors I found the instructors of the program to be fantastic. For me, it was the perfect blend of retired professionals who wanted to teach what they learned in their specific field, experienced professionals transitioning into the world of academia in an adjunct capacity, and career academic professors. The combination of academic and professional /corporate perspective in the classroom is one of the areas that I feel Lewis U's MBA program excels. Most professors / instructors were very understanding about work and home responsibilities & conflicts. The vast majority of students are working adults with families. On a few rare occasions I witnessed professors / instructors push back on the small percentage of students who consistently had excessive missing assignments and absences. This was rare; most students did the work and were responsible. Academic rigor / workload / difficulty I found the courses that comprise the program up to date, relevant, and most of all engaging. The topics covered were well thought out and delivered from my perspective. I like the design of the program. This program is in no way shape or form easy or a joke. It is totally possible to complete this program while having the responsibility of a full time career and a family. You do need to "do the work" though! Most courses have, or in my experience had, a team related project. As with any team related activity, some team members were motivated and made great contributions, some did the bare minimum, others rode coattails.

That being said, Lewis U was definitely the right choice for me. Flexibility I was able to utilize 3 different campuses and the online format (they use "Black Board" as their platform) to complete all the requirements. Capstone / Thesis I was not required to prepare, complete, and defend a Thesis Statement. Instead, the completion of the program includes a Capstone Course when the better part of the requirements have been completed. Basically the requirements of this course are for you (within the framework of a team, my team consisted of 3 people) perform copious amounts of research on an assigned publicly traded company. The final grade of the course is based on a final presentation by the team in the capacity as upper management to the board of directors. The research methods taught in this course are worth the cost of the program in my opinion. Summary My opinion is that the MBA program at Lewis University is high quality, well designed, and delivered. If you are considering adding an MBA to your resume this program has the potential to provide a high ROI. I look forward to becoming...

Lewis does indeed have an idyllic campus, with some of the best faculty to ever facilitate education. At Christmas every year, Lewis sends out fabulous cards to anybody with even a remote connection to the university, on very nice 120 pound card stock. Lewis also is at best capricious and at worst extremely inconsistent as to whom, as an administration, it favors, and whom it does not. Lewis is run by the Christian Brothers, also known as the Lasallians. Lasallians are supposed to base their educational methods on five principles rooted in Catholic values and virtues. That does not seem to hold true for the Lasallians at Lewis, and the administration hired to represent them.

Sixty-three to sixty-five percent of the faculty at Lewis is composed of adjunct, or part-time, faculty. To be an adjunct means to not only have expertise as an academician, but the skills to be an expert in the corporate, commercial, industrial world where most of us reside. It also means only thirty-five to thirty-seven percent of the faculty is full-time staff. Even less than that are tenured.

An adjunct faculty member of Lewis recently died. This person taught at Lewis for twenty years. The professor's classes were well-attended, and most students appreciated the professor's efforts. The faculty member taught anywhere from three to five classes a semester, what elsewhere would constitute a full class load. This person went to the annual adjunct dinner, as well as volunteered for May Institute, seminars, convocations, and panels. When this adjunct could no longer drive to Lewis, the individual took it upon himself two days a week to get up extremely early, take Metra into the Loop, to be on time for the Lewis bus to the main campus.

Lewis's official answer to the adjunct faculty member's death was a copier paper sheet sent to the family in condolence, on which had been copied a Scripture verse, and the heading, "On behalf of the Brothers of the LaSalle Community, I want to extend our deepest sympathies..." That's it. A few individual colleagues took the time to offer Masses, call, attend the visitation. Not the Christian Brothers, and not the administration that represents them.

There are other examples that Lewis is not the Catholic university you would think it is. Look for these before you commit to attendance, or send your child to attend, Lewis. Do your own research. Find out how safe the dormitories really are. Look for the location of the chapel, and find the story on the conversion of what was once the chapel into a venue for luncheons and special events. Examine what you will receive for paying sixty-seven to eighty percent more than a public school, particularly for general education credits easily obtained at the local community college for thirty-three percent of the price of tuition at Lewis.

And if nothing else convinces you to look elsewhere, remember that the majority of the professors who will teach you or your child are adjuncts, people skilled in both the classroom and the real world. And remember how Lewis treats those valuable, skilled people....
