So thankful to be able to visit this museum with my dad and father in law who are both veterans - Army and Air Force. The museum is located on Edwards Air Force Base so you have to have base access currently - but they are raising funds to move the museum just outside the gates. The have static displays including different test aircraft including the beautiful SR-71 Blackbird. Chuck Yeager’s orange jet hangs from the ceiling and a gorgeous F-22 Raptor also sits inside.

Visit the rich history of Nasa and the pioneers in aircraft testing. You won't regret it! This museum is on Edwards AFB; and they are in development (partially built, see plans in photo) of a larger museum at the main gates for more visitors. If you can, visit this museum, you won't regret it! You'll even learn about early women aviators, see the lunar landing simulator, see X15 high altitude flight suits, and see the amazing aircraft that made it possible!

Such a delight to visit and an abundance of history all in one place! Loved the static display of planes at Century Circle and outside and inside the Museum, along with the artifacts and treasures that have been discovered from the golden age of flight. We got to hold one of Neil Armstrong's compression suits...what?? History in our hands! Be sure to ask questions as the staff possess a wealth of knowledge to share! Truly a jewel in the desert, don't miss it!

A Hidden Gem for Aviation Enthusiasts!

The Flight Test Museum is an incredible experience for anyone curious about aerospace history. From rare experimental aircraft to detailed exhibits on test pilots and groundbreaking technology, this place is a treasure trove. The staff and volunteers are friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about aviation.

You don’t have to be an aviation buff to enjoy it, there’s something for everyone, including kids. It’s amazing to see aircraft that helped shape history up close, especially with the museum being located right by Edwards Air Force Base.

Highly recommend taking the guided tour if it's available. It gives you deeper insight into the stories behind the aircraft.

If you are anywhere near the area, it's absolutely worth the visit. Support this growing museum, they are doing something...

This is a fabulous museum that houses an amazing collection of flight test history, in the birthplace flight test. It's definitely worth spending a few hours to see the aircraft, test gear, equipment, and (more importantly), the many legends in flight test.

The only downside (resulting in the loss of one Star): access to the museum requires access to Edwards AFB, which means you must have a military ID, be a retiree, or know someone who can grant you access to the base.

But worry not! There is a new museum being built at the Century Circle (immediately BEFORE the west gate to Edwards). Once it is completed, the new location will allow everyone access to this gem in the...

Well. I sure am glad I checked into the website before I drove all the way out there. Too bad it’s not open to the public. That’s disappointing. I was really excited to see it. I did however find out that the Joe Davies Heritage Airpark in Palmdale is associated with this museum. Although they have different aircraft they all share a test and aerospace history. I was told at the gift shop that they are raising funds to build a new museum at Edwards that will be in a place accessible to the public. Until that day I was very pleased with the...
