I did the hike to the top (I think) of Wedding Cake Mt. You need to arrange access with the Fisheries & Wildlife office in Songsong village beforehand. They will arrange access, unlocking the gate. You also need to sign a liability waiver. A short distance after the start are some steps and then a rope climb. The rope was new and nylon, and so slippery and can cause rope burns. Use gloves if you have them. The first part of the trail has been cleared recently (Feb 25), and is well marked with tape every 5-10 metres. The path to the lookout diverges from the main path. There was a 'Lookout' sign nailed to a tree, but it was in the wrong place, sending me the wrong way. After the path diverged, there are far fewer tape markings, and I was constantly stopping to try and work out the way to go. There is a second shorter rope climb (with a thicker rope). The clearing of the path was far less, despite signs of recent clearing, and at the top you have to scramble through bushes. It's obvious a lot of clearing has been undertaken recently but it needs even more. I ended up scratched on legs and arms. The view at the top is very good, but for me the hike was not worth it given the current conditions. The path is mostly uneven and jagged limestone, with many loose rocks. You should have good hiking boots, with a good sole, otherwise the limestone is likely to rip it to pieces. Ankle support is desirable and hiking poles help. I also recommend long sleeves and trousers to limit scratches. Don't go alone. The risk of an accident is too high. It took me 1 hour 35 up, including about 20 minutes when I went the wrong way, and 1 hour 5...

It was a great...
