I wanted to share my experience of hosting a milestone birthday celebration at Mine Hill Distillery, where we rented the train station for my milestone birthday party.
The owner, Ron, was amazing to work with. He was very accommodating, responsive, and easy to work with. He was on-site during the day of the party and gave us a tour of the distillery. We learned about the history and the process of making their liquors and did a tasting of their products, which were delicious. Ron has a lot of knowledge and passion for his craft, and he was happy to share it with us.
One of the most impressive things was how Ron went out of his way to ensure that my friend with MS, who is in a wheelchair, could join the tour and the tasting. He personally helped him access the facility and made sure he was comfortable. The train station venue also has a lift for people with disabilities and is ADA-compliant.
Ron also worked with us to prepare cocktails for the party, using his spirits and fresh ingredients. He has a great sense of taste and creativity, and the cocktails were a hit with the guests. I highly recommend Mine Hill Distillery for anyone that’s looking for a venue with historical roots, character, and charm. The grounds, bordering the Shepaug River, are beautiful. It was a memorable and enjoyable experience, and I am grateful to Ron and his team for...
Read moreWe are visiting family from out of state and love to visit local distilleries when we travel. Mine Hill was a great quick excursion! They are a small operation but sound like they have an awesome long term vision for their distillery!
We called ahead and Assistant Distiller Erik met us at the door. He helped make our experience stellar. Incredibly knowledgeable and personable. He gave enough details to keep my whisky wizard husband entertained with new info but also not so jargon heavy to turn off those of us wit interest. He’s clearly proud of their work!
Their product was unique and enjoyable. Their Rye and Bourbon are clearly young but you can taste the flavours developing. Their gin was good! We don’t generally enjoy gin but Mine Hill was incredibly unique and I actually enjoyed it. We bought a bottle of their Amaro though because it was so good and unique! We tasted amaro in Italy a few weeks ago and Mine Hill’s was authentic but also a unique spin. It is sweet with some bite. Trust your tasting professions when they recommend you try it!
Amazed that the tasting is free. Erik easily spent 40 minutes with us patiently answering questions. Also love their bottling and their motto with nods to their...
Read moreWe held my daughter's graduation party at the Mine Hill Distillery Depot. It was an absolutely awesome time!
The owner, Ron, was so incredibly helpful throughout the entire process and very quick to answer my questions. He has a great passion for everything there. The Depot - which has such fun history - is located in a gorgeous spot in CT right on the Shepaug River. Sitting at the fire pit was like being in the center of a fantastic painting. Ken from the distillery was there on the day of our party and was so kind to talk to guests about the distillery process and the different spirits we had at the party. Everyone had the best time! They loved being able to tour the distillery and do tastings as well as having fun at the party. A few friends happily bought bourbon and the Amaro (one of my favorites!) They couldn't get over how delicious the vodka was.
It is such a beautiful location, amazing people to work with, so simple to set up our party and made for wonderful memories. I cannot recommend it...
