Dallas Karting Complex — Attraction in Royse City

Saturday July 14 my husband and I went on a double date here. We asked for 2 races. The first race we wanted to do was 2 drivers but a double seater so the girls can ride along. The second race was just for the guys to race in so 2 drivers again since it was my husbands friends Birthday. Well the rude girl at the chairs desk said theres only 1 double car that 2 people can ride in. Well our plan still was all 4 ride in first race and just the guys in 2nd race. So for first race we asked for the double seater @$30 and 2 single @$25 each And the second just 2 single riders @$25 each. She confirmed with us but then asked us if we wanted to do another 2 heat since it was 2 for 45$ instead of 50$. We said no... well our total ended up being 185.75 and I thought that was high but possibly with extra charge of $5 insurance per person and 3.50 headgear per person it added up. Well at that point we were already going outside to prepare for our races. We were race 36 and 37. After the first race, me and Rachel went inside to check out ranking and take pics, and the guys stayed outside to continue on to their next race. That's when I noticed it had Rachel's name on the "next race" column and we never asked for a second race for us girls. So we go to the counter and inquire about it. The girl was rude and asked for our receipt. I told her my husband has it and hes already on next race but she should be able to look it up since it was from today. She got all defensive and rolled her eyes and said okkk as if it was so much work to do. I wanted to slap her. I cannot believe this is the type of employee DKC has representing them. She admitted she added an extra rider by mistake after huffing and puffing while going through the computer records, but her defense was we paid for it. She wouldn't give a refund and said she can credit us since theres a no refund policy. Credit for what? Who goes out their by themselves to do 1 race? We are so upset because we were charged an extra $25 for a driver we DID NOT ASK FOR. It's not like we changed our minds and wanted to leave and asked for refund. This was HER fault. She must be new or just a sad excuse of an employee who apparently seemed like she cant handle multiple needs of a customer. I asked for a manager and she just handed us a card.

So basically people be aware...these people are either scamming you for extra bucks or she was just an bad employee so review and ask to look at the charges on screen BEFORE YOU PAY! I have been trying to contact them about my refund but NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONES.

I highly doubt we will ever be trying this place again. Zero stars If I could.

UPDATE The owner did get in contact with me. Originally I wanted my money back since cado mills is very far and DKG is expensive so we dont come out here often. But after talking to the owner, he did credit us our next visit. Which probably wont be until 2019 honestly, but I have high hopes that they will keep their word and promise of better service. I give them 3 stars now, because the owner took initiative to look into this case. So I do thank him...

Been a long time customer of dkc since they opened and always have a blast, refer them, bring friends and family, as well as my employees for company outings. I never leave this place under $500+ and have probably spent 10,000+ here over the years. However, I had not been since the new tracks were constructed… Whoever laid the small track (the track on the left used for rentals) SERIOUSLY dropped the ball on this. This track is beyond undrivable now. It is literally as slick as ice and snow. In fact, I’ve had better traction on ice and snow…. You cannot take any turns at speeds above even 10-15 mph without horrendous understeer. Try to turn, nope, you’re going straight. Try to prepare the front end by diving into the corner early, nope you’re going straight. Try to brake once you realize you’re just going straight, nope you’re spinning out. So frustrating and sad, and to be honest, it’s more dangerous now than it ever was… The only way to hit these turns and maintain any sort of speed is to give the brakes one good hit to kick the back end out in order to point your front end where you want and then back on the throttle and stay straight. They’ve ruined everything that’s fun about karting which to me is the feeling of “being on rails” and being able to move quickly through the corners. I used to leave this place sore as hell from hitting those corners. Now, it feels like you’re on a kiddy kart just waiting to get around the corner…if you can even make it without hitting a barricade or going off the track entirely…. Not to mention the new track is smaller and you can barely get the kart into the powerband (where the rental karts need to be without bogging down). The track went smaller, but the times went up from 75 seconds to 90! If they doesn’t tell you how badly this track is messed up now….just go on out and try for yourself, you’ll leave after the first race. I would’ve left after my first race had my son not come with me. I was very irritated and disappointed. Requalified on my second race for the gtmax for the 6th time at dkc from over the years… and it was a bit better being able to power out of your slides but still terrible track conditions and design for that kart and even worse track construction.

I honestly feel bad for everyone at dkc now as the new track literally ruined everything that was fun about dkc. I will definitely not be back for a very long time until they sort out the track issues. They need to bite the bullet and spray every square inch of that track with VHT. Even that I’m not sure will help entirely.

Sad, disappointed, frustrated, and angry that I wasted my money and time here. Let me know when you fix the track and I’ll update my review. However this is utmost honesty to help save the people that have enjoyed this place so much...

We visited on July 6th, 2018. We got there about an hour after opening. Two stars...one for the track and one for the single karts. It was nice a manager finally helped but his staff is poorly trained and supervised. That's on him. You will have a good time IF nothing goes wrong. The young staff left a lot to be desired. I drove my girlfriend in the double kart. First race, we didn't make it half way through the first lap before we ran out of gas. Really??? They didn't check fuel when they got there that morning? I doubt the kart ran through a full tank the first hour. It wasn't busy enough. Also, the blonde girl insisted there was no way it was empty, before looking in the tank and seeing it was. No problem. Mistakes happen. Well, they weren't watching the track and didn't notice us sitting in the sun, for half the race. The blonde girl came out and saw we were empty. She left us in the hot sun for the remainder of the race. My two sons were the only other karts on the track, it wouldn't have been difficult to get us. When they finally came out, she was racing her coworker and laughing. Not very considerate after leaving your customer stranded. It demonstrates indifference to the customers' bad experience. She tried to make excuses, saying the guy was suppose to be watching us but he's new. Not cool to throw a coworker under the bus. Good thing we didn't have a real emergency on the track. Next race, we used the other double kart. It did fine til about 6 minutes in. It began to sputter around turns and soon stalled. The young guy slowly strolled over to us and said it had fuel. It was fine if I took turns slowly. Come to find out, it was leaking fuel on the back of our shoulders. My girlfriend's shirt was ruined. It probably got low, quickly, and the g force in the turns caused the gas to shift away from the fuel line. I was done and wanted credit for my last race, not driven yet, to go towards one of my sons. I wasn't raising my voice and being rude, just firm and expressed it's only right. The girl behind the counter had no interest in helping. She said we'd have to wait til the manager was done fixing a kart. He wasn't fixing a kart, he was sitting in the corner, at his desk. It was clear she didn't want to do anything to help. When she finally got up and made the manager aware of the situation, the solution was simple. He told her to change the charge for my son to reflect what I paid as a discount and he'd initial it. These young employees were there for their own fun and pay check, first. Customers come second. They wanted me to make their jobs easier. I will be visiting family in the area, again, but...
