Fr. Phillip Wagner was my great uncle. I was 6 yrs. old when he passed away. I remember visiting him while he was in the hospital before he died. I remember the Grotto being in the process of being built. Now that I've been able to go back after all these years, I was so in awe and amazed. I read the story about the Grotto being built and Fr. Wagners' story of his life and health. What love and dedication that he had for God and Mother Mary. I know that his love and deep commitment gave him the strength and ideas that went into this project. Im sure many lives have been touched and changed through the many hands that dedicated time, supplies, labor and helped to fulfill Fr. Phillips dream. It still continues. Many thanks to all that have had a part in this journey. Thank you to all volunteers that help make this dream to Mary, Our Mother continue. I pray that the Grotto will stay open to touch the many lives that visit. May God...
Read moreThis is an amazing site to visit. Much of it is hand crafted out of stone or wood and it is glorious to witness. The Cave is a wonderful place to see, as it has much of the most impressive sculptures. It's well worth the three dollars they charge to enter into, especially since they only require payment for The Cave itself.
Things to note: They only take cash or check and there is not an ATM at the location. There is one at a nearby bank, so you can get cash there if need be. Additionally, The Cave is very tight with frequent low ceilings. If you have claustrophobia or have a physical disability, you would most definitely struggle to go through the entire experience.
If you're in the area and are willing to make a day of it, I highly recommend the trip. As an added bonus, down the street is a cheese factory that you are also...
Read moreWhat a wonderful place. I am not Catholic. I am a non denominational Bible believing Christian. But anybody can enjoy this wonderful place. Very peaceful with a definite vibe. I make a trek out there from North Dakota every other year. Wonderful people donate there time to make this all work every year. But be warned. It is a work out. Climbing up and down stairs and going through the wonder cave. Can spend a whole day there. Make sure to leave a donation because it all runs on donations. There is a cheese factory open during the week down the street that sells snacks and fresh cheese curds that are still warm. Also ice cream. Catholics and Christians of all sorts even non believers will enjoy the beauty of this wonderful place. GOD bless Father Wagner for...
