Very impressive for a smaller zoo. My family and I have lived near the Saginaw Children’s Zoo for several year. We had not visited till recently. Boy were we missing out! It is cheap for a family to visit. We went on a weekend in the late spring, it was busy but not overly cramped. We were able to get up close to many of the animals. Many of the exhibits have more than one viewing area, making it easy to still get a close look at the animals. We were also impressed at how clean the zoo was. Some zoos tend to smell. This one did not. There were also several other things to do while we were there. There is a small eating are, they served hot dogs, popcorn, bottled water etc.. The snacks were also cheap, unlike most large zoos that cost twenty dollars per plate. There was also a barn yard petting area that had goats, cows and alpacas. The animals all seemed to be well taken care of, it was obvious this is a AZA affiliated zoo. My family takes trips all over the country every year to visit AZA zoos and aquariums. Typically, they are large and expensive. The Children’s Zoo was a nice change, it was smaller and less expensive. Yet, it did not lack in animals, their care or our experience.

We decided to stop here as a surprise for our kids (ages 9y and 7y) on the way back from a nearby staycation. I am so happy we did! This is a great, unique little zoo. There were a few exhibits down, but I think you come across that at any zoo. They also had some new enclosures being built, which makes me excited for a later visit. The floating bridge over the marsh walk was my favorite! The zoo was very affordable (entry for 4 people, and 2 tickets for the carousel only ran us $32), and thankfully it was not overcrowded either (we got there about 1230pm on a Monday). The animals all looked healthy and the staff there was friendly and professional. Our family has food allergies, and the staff at the food service areas had no problem helping us find safe foods, it was greatly appreciated. We took our time enjoying every bit of the small zoo, we ended up staying about 4hrs, but you could easily get through it much faster. Overall, I'm really glad we stopped, it was a great day outing for all of us, and I definitely plan to go back again next year to see the new exhibits and ride the train.

Talk about a super nice facility for Kids and adults alike! My girlfriend and I went expecting just a small gathering of animals in some smaller enclosures, but I was so wrong. Granted this place isn't huge, but it's very well laid out and the enclosures were big and beautiful for the types of animals they house. First we seen of a wolf as we made our way around twists and turns and then ran into a nice penguin and river otter enclosure! As we continued from there we were able to see kangaroo's, tortoise's, and smaller variety of monkey's. Continuing from there we seen some smaller enclosures w/ birds and a few other smaller animals! You basically make a loop right around the park and walk back out through the giftshop where you can buy a variety of items to commemorate your trip. The enterance fee is only $5 and in my opinion worth at least $15! It's definitely worth a stop and make sure you help the facility by purchasing anything from a water to a t-shirt featuring a animal from the facility!

Adorable children's zoo with lots of fun exhibits and affordable admission. There's a lot of shaded places to sit and eat a picnic (tables/benches/grassy areas) and the atmosphere is wonderful. A special highlight is seeing all the little flower garden plots that line the pathways. They're all unique and beautiful in their own way - each is managed by a different family or group in the Saginaw community. There's a super cool park for kids age 4-5-ish and over (a little big for my 2 y.o.). There's a train ride (about 5-7 mins long, circles the whole campus), a carousel, a fossil digging sand pit, and lots, lots more! My only complaint is that one of the coolest features for my kiddo is an under water viewing area whose windows were, at the time we went, covered in algae and seaweed. If she could have seen some "fishies", she'd have been even happier, but still had a great time regardless. All in all, it's an excellent family excursion. I highly recommend!

I had the pleasure of visiting the Saginaw zoo today with my partner and children. It is a small, but beautiful zoo that is perfect for a day out with the family. We have been going to this zoo since we were kids, and it is great to share the experience with our children. The zoo is always making improvements, and it is clear that the staff is dedicated to providing a great experience for visitors. The animals are well-cared for and the exhibits are clean and well-maintained. While the train was closed due to construction it usually gives a unique perspective of the zoo. The train ride is a great way to see all of the animals, and it is a lot of fun for kids. I can’t wait for the train to be back after the construction improvements. Overall, we had a great time at the Saginaw zoo. It is a great place to visit with the family, and we would definitely recommend it to others.

DO NOT BUY FROM THE GIFT SHOP. We got a membership to the zoo. After our visit, we stopped by the gift shop and purchased a stuffed animal our daughter wanted. There is a sign about 10% off discount with membership. The cashier scanned the item, and our card and the total came out to $6.80 something. The item was $6, and with tax it's $6.36 so something was off. We turned around without leaving the store, and the girl said it was $7.15 in the system, which also didn't make sense because nothing ended in 15 cents. She said they could refund me, that was the only option was to take it or leave it. Michigan scanner law says that's illegal. I tried calling and left a voicemail. I haven't received a call back. I did give it all week because of the holiday, but nothing. I would not recommend getting a membership at this zoo or purchasing items from their gift shop.
