Getting over run with out of county. Total mess. Parking in grass. Going wrong way on roads blocking traffic. Go home. No rangers on weekends. Sit there in Parking lot during the week when nobody is there wasting time. And the trash is ridiculous. Rent pavilions to county residents only. And that older lady in blue suv with Florida plates quit throwing your cigarette butts on the ground in the ball field Pavillion. This is my local park and tired of cleaning up after you pigs.

Beautiful park with something for everyone! Tennis courts, soccer fields, four baseball diamonds, ample parking, a huge aquatics center with slides and a lazy river, playgrounds, a small lake with a paved walking path and lots of picnic tables and pavilions around the park. Paved trails wind all around the park even lead to some more wooded areas. You can’t go wrong with this park!

The only reason I don’t give 5 stars is because of the staff who are supposed to be life guards, I saw a few of them them on their phones not paying attention and they were letting small children go down their largest slide with punctured and ripped rafts, even after it was pointed out how dangerous it was, I pray this behavior doesn’t take someone’s life

This is from my perspective as someone who has run a coed recreational softball team at Wapelhorst for nine years now on Wed nights and has watched this league continue to go downhill as they let more and more HIGH REC ultra competitive tournament teams with loaded bats and guys on steroids continue to run what are supposed to be FUN recreational softball leagues.

Pitchers and infielders are forced to wear masks to protect themselves from fear of getting seriously injured and no one does anything about it. Some sort of warning/penalty system needs to be put in place for the meatheads who can hit the ball wherever they want but still choose to hit the ball straight back up the middle putting the pitcher who is only 60 feet away in an extremely dangerous situation. It's only a matter of time before someone gets seriously hurt in these leagues. These are the same guys who can hit line drive home runs into the houses behind the fields. Yet this is supposed to be a "recreational" league.

The umpires have also gone downhill to the point of literally just standing there, not making calls, not keeping track of balls, strikes, outs or runs, not even looking at plays as they're happening and playing favorites with whoever they seem worthy. I know they do not get paid much at all but why be there at all if you're not going to actually do anything.

I am sick and tired of the favoritism and the lack of control and desire to do anything about any of this and could not be more disappointed in what these leagues have turned into. I have sent multiple emails to the person who runs the softball leagues to no avail or even an response. I guess our $1000+ every year for nine years means nothing so guess what, you will never receive another dime...

I brought my children to wapelhorst today. Which used to be our favorite pool. As I sit and watch my children play I also observe pretty ridiculous behavior by lead lifeguards and lifeguards. The leads were more interested in flirting with the lifeguards. Which definitely prohibited them from doing their jobs. Then I had lifeguards yelling back in forth to each other over my head about 1 being a homewrecker.. and snap chat... which boys like them..how far they went with each one.. and done forget tonight's party. I learned so much about Hailey and Kaitlin today that I'm sure their parents would be so proud. Point being if they are not going to take their jobs seriously maybe they shouldn't be a lifeguard. Our children do not need to hear those kinds of conversations, and their safety should...

I've been coming to this park on and off since I was a child. They're done a lot of construction in the past few years making it a nicer park. There are great walking trails and fields for kid's sports teams. There are gazebos and roofed picnic areas with benches and public grills for use. Picnic areas can be reserved for events.

The park also has a water park inside which is great for about the 12 and under crowd. The pool doesn't get any deeper than 5 feet. The playgrounds are well kept. Honestly, they look so fun, I wish they had equipment like this when I was kid. The swings are big and sturdy enough to support adults.

The park is worth stopping by if you play Pokemon Go as it has several Poke...
