The staff was extremely rude, condescending and arrogant. I was nearby and saw "Veterans Memorial Park" and figured it would be a great place to sit down and read a book. As a Veteran, it looked like a great spot. When I got the gate, I was met by a Middle Eastern woman asking me where I lived. She was like "This park for residents only!" I calmly told her the city I live in and I said I saw the veterans signs and figured it would be a good place to sit down for a few minutes. Nope! She got upset and asked me "Do you not read! It says Residents Only" everywhere! I told her I did not see any signs. She took me to the front gate to show me. She couldn't find it. I'm like OK, I'll leave. I told her "You see, it doesn't say it anywhere." She goes "It says it in the parking lot! Don't you read!" I never saw this one sign because I walked the long way along the road. It was never in my path. This woman had no respect for people, no care for Vets and was completely unprofessional. People like this should not work at a park and especially one named"Veterans...

This place is always very clean, they are decently careful about who enters. And are pretty good about keeping the trash picked up. Other than the litter free grounds, they have the splash pad, playground equipment, pavilions, and different plaques around the park citing dedications, and informative information. The waterfront is outstanding, there is a lot of it, and it's always a nice cool breeze, with just the slightest wind. There are a bit of bird droppings pretty much all over the place. However, it's on the water, not too much you can really do about that. The staff interactions I've had there, have always been pleasant. It's also near really good dining places. I totally recommend this place to anyone able to be granted access. Whether going here to reflect, meditate, relax, fish, bird watch, boat watch, pavilion rental for party's, splash pad, swimming, playground, or even a slow walk with a loved one around the water, this is a place to go. I will continue to frequent this place. You...

Really well laid out and wonderful for BBQing near the water. Many reviews on here have peoples minds blown away by the fact that the park is fully funded by the residents of the city of St. Clair Shores and therefore is only open to their own residents. Many reviewers state that if they let everyone in they would get a "higher rating" when in FACT they would get more trash to clean up, have parking issues, and their costs would sky rocket! Then they would have to charge at the gate which would be a punishment to the citizens of St. Clair Shores who already pay insanely high property taxes due too having parks like this and being near the water. This has my mind blown as the Grosse Pointes (each one) near by have done this for well over a hundred years with no such complaints. If you don't pay for something why do YOU "think" YOU have a right to it? I did not pay for your car so I can't just get in it. Weird how people think or in this case...

Drove 1.5 hours on Memorial Day going to the Veterans Memorial Park to take our daughter to the splash pad. Turns out it’s residents only. Just a bummer that a veterans Memorial Park would be private. I get it, but not a fan of it. My husband is even a disabled combat Veteran so the day already had big meaning for our family. Then not even allowed in a Veterans Memorial Park.... Someone was able to get us in because he was a very nice, kind, friendly man, but it still left us with a sour taste. Not to mention the splash pad isn’t even open till the middle of June. What a weird, late time to open it. So yeah. 10/10 won’t be back lol

My husband and I are potters and we participate in the Lac St. Claire Art Fair every year. The park is really lovely. It's accessible only to residents of St. Claire Shores except for special occassions such as the Fair. They're located on the lake, have a nice playground and bocci courts and a walking path that's shady and well-paved. (Check it out: the Art Fair is the 3rd weekend in September every year. ;) )

Lovely park with a walking track 5/8 of a mile around. 8 laps makes 5 miles. Several benches to look out over the water. Small beach which has been closed for years. Lots of pollution in that lake with sewage drain off. Very disappointing metro Detroit and Canada dump into this large lake. Very pretty lake views. In the summer, the city puts on Wednesday evening concerts. LOTS of people show up.
