If you want an excellent low-exertion stroll in the woods with dogs on a gorgeous path with water fountains, benches and restrooms, then the main path circle is perfect. Take your time and enjoy the trees and sky.
If you want to experience the U.P. forest and take a path to the lake or follow the creek, you can get a nice little workout and travel the pine-needle floored forest for spectacular views.
As you go farther east, the land lowers and becomes marshy in areas. Dress appropriately.
This is where the season also has the biggest impact. If you want to head into marshes in late spring to fall, you'll be amazed at the scenery, but be prepared for some insect friends.
