An amazing Catholic mission church. Loved the history, museum and the frescos were just gorgeous! Interesting how the history said the Jesuit brother did them in his spare time when not being the mission cook! The volunteer working at the gift shop mentioned that her grandmother and great uncle were in a picture in the museum. The picture was from the late 1890s or early 1900s. The picture had about 30-40 native chiefs in it. Really cool to talk to an ancestor ! Would go back again and again! Would love to match my next visit with a Mass.

After this, I visited the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes Bison Range where I saw elk, deer, birds, pronghorn sheep, bison, native flowers/grasses and gorgeous landscape with a backdrop of the Mission Mountain Range.

Also hit up the Ninepipes National Wildlife Refuge at sunset….beyond beautiful.

All of these pretty close to each other, especially if headed to or...

One of the great treasures of the Catholic Church in America. My wife and I got married here in June 2025 and we were in awe of the beauty of this church both inside and out. Nestled at the foot of the Mission Mountains, it is hands down one of the most scenic churches in the United States. Inside, it has undergone a huge renovation recently to restore it to its former glory. This church is truly special and should be visited by many. Furthermore, Father Victor Candino does an excellent job leading the local community and parish - I can’t say enough good things about him. This church is truly a...

WOW! This Church I must say is very beautiful, and stunning to look at. My wife and I came here last weekend for the first time and I was speechless. The artwork was phenomenal! They are also doing a really good job at renovating the Church as well! If you come (which you need to) read up on the history. My wife and I love seeing old Churches because they were just so full of amazing art, and just so elegant. Makes you feel really cozy walking into this old Church. I recommend everyone coming through St. Ignatius to please take the time and enjoy a little history while having the presence of...

So much more than art, historical building, history. What you won't find in other churches is a "life-sized oil painting titled Christ as an Indian Chief by Sam and Olive Wiprud in 1960" also described as "a very special painting of the Salish Lord (in Native American form)." What you won't find are 58 murals painted in 1904-1905 by "a Jesuit Brother who served as the Mission cook. Brother Carignano, SJ, (1853-1919), with no professional training in art" created a Sistine-Chapel-like wonder. What you probably won't find, except in one California mission, is a painting of Joseph holding baby Jesus.
