This is a very fun and interesting place for a walk. There were many people here engaged in a variety of things - a father and son were zipping around RC Cars in one of the parking lots, a group of teenagers playing pick-up football, people boarding boats for sunset cruises, people of all ages riding bikes and walking dogs. The campground is World-class, with a full RV zone where literally hundreds of people were preparing and sitting down to Saturday evening dinners. Fragrant smoke was everywhere from bonfires, cooking fires, grills and possibly a left over firework or two. I saw family so large they had 6 picnic tables joined together in one long row all sitting down to eat together - the men wore plaid with beards and the women white bonnets. A few spots down raunchy country music spilled out of a doors-open F150, bottles of booze on the table behind a shirtless tattoo covered dude grilled steaks next to a flashy new 5th-wheel camper. A church group occupied a large pavilion appearing to be having a cookout. While considering this fine, fun melting pot two very retired seniors gave me a hearty "hello!" just as a pack of about 30 kids buzzed by us on BMX bikes.
I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the Grand Lake Saint Mary's Park Campground is the most happening place around on a weekend like this. I sure wish I was staying...
Read moreIt was beautiful. Though the alge plume stopped lake access. The host campers like to be the bathroom police though. I walked in the bathroom with a cigarette as I didn't see the outpost by the door, and didn't want to throw a cigarette on the ground. The host camper lady came from her site to the bathroom to ask me while I was using the rest room if I was smoking. She came in and washed her hands right next to the stall I was using. She Didn't use the restroom at all. (I awkwardly said no I put it out) I got it wet in the sink when I walked in and threw it in the trash can. That was creepy and over stepps the bounds of the host camper.😬 I have been in campgrounds all over the united states and never had a host camper invade my space in the rest room. I came to see the place as I was looking for a spot to spend a 14 day period in a cabin. I won't be renting a cabin here due to this overreach. She could of waited until I was done using the bathroom. Other than that weirdness it is a...
Read moreWe stayed at the smaller of the two sized cabins. While the location was superb, the cabin was left wanting. First, bathrooms are not in the cabins, only a small fridge, microwave, table with 2 benches, futon full size sleeper/couch and 4 skinny bunk beds. All the mattresses were very thin. We put two together on one bunk and still needed our topper as to not feel the hard wood bottom. No shelves to place things decreased the floor space. Only two working outlets and no running water even outside. But once outside, the swing was terrific and an eagle flew by fishing for his breakfast. A picnic table and fire ring at water's edge and 2 generous...
