I purchased a 41 foot Yacht that was moored at this Marina in September of 2015, I went to the office and set up a direct credit card payment plan. The vessel I purchased needed some repairs to be able to move it out of the Marina. During this time I was asked by Marina Ownership if i would agree to move to another open dock at the Marina Owners Rental Home next door, due to another Yacht Owner wanting his Vessel in the water. Being a Nice Guy I agreed to this as long as there was adequate Power and Water, I was told that would be no Problem. My Mechanic went down to the Vessel to complete the repairs needed and called me to let me know that there was no dock protection on the Vessel and it was banging up against the pilings and rubbing on the extension cord they installed, I called Management at the Marina to let them know i would be coming down the end of the month and asked if there was full power and water hooked up. I was told yes Sir No Problem. The fact is it was a Problem when i visited MY Yacht on January 31, 2016 I was appalled to find that the workers at the Marina had run a 12 gauge extension cord 200 feet to power the Vessel. I went to the office and talked with Management about this situation and the response i got was OH I didn't Know.I never did get Power or Water and when they moved MY Vessel they threw the old hose on board that was full of Barnacles, as well as my Hose that supplies clean water to the Vessel was hanging in the salt water. I had to Stay in a Hotel that night and left the next day. Thank God my Vessel is now out of this Dump. To make things Worse I received my Credit Card Statement Today and I have been charged another month of dock fees. When I called Management who is the Owner all I was told is they do not Pro Rate the Last Month. So i am paying 7 weeks of dock fees that were suppose to include Power and Water.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreNOV 7th, I called on a boat owned and offered for sale by Shell Point Marina, it's owner Thomas Hudson, manager Paula Weeks and employee Maleta Hughes. A video was sent to me via Facebook messenger representing the boat and equipment contained on the boat. Shell Point requested nearly five thousand dollars on a credit card over the phone, for storage in advance. Upon arriving I was told by Thomas Hudson, I could not have the title until the boat left the yard (1st red flag.) Upon inspection on the boat I noticed the hatch was wide open and the boat was filled with water. Upon entering the boat it became apparent that everything worth anything had been removed from the boat. When I questioned the removal of equipment I was told that when the price was dropped to $0, Tom had everything removed. In removing the winches huge holes were cut in the deck. The electrical panel, battery tender, clock & barometer, 4 winches, solar panels, stairs/ladder and other items were taken. The boat was stripped and vandalized and they expected me to be okay with it. I clearly told Shell Point this was unacceptable and they responded what do you think is fair? I personally spent nearly $2,000, days out of my life, traveling through a Hurricane to Ruskin based on the false representations of Shell Point Marina, Maleta, Paula and Tom only to get ripped off. Fair would be to reimburse me for the monies I spent based on those false representations. I should have read the numerous negative reviews prior to making this trip and spending any money. So many negative reviews complaining about dealings with Shell Point Marina. I have to wonder how often this has happened and how it is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNew review- We have never had a problem at Shell Point. We were nervous about the new owners, especially reading the statements written in the comments section.
Here is what we have expirenced:
We were notified of rate per sqft adjustments. They are now about the same as just about everywhere else in the southshore area. When we initially joined I am not sure our boat was actually measured as they asked us the overall length, as our boat was brand new we supplied the measurement from the vendor. We were told all boats were remeasured by the new owners. Our measurement hasn't changed, so looks like they use the same measuring practices our vendor does. We had one misunderstanding on (our part), and it was mitigated by staff immediately. The staff has always been super friendly, of course we love our folklift operators for always taking care of the boats and going the extra mile to ensure no damage occurs.
The highlights recently: -More staff! Its nice to have the extra hands when you're coming in and out of the marina. -More parking! For the first time in two years we were able to decide midday on a busy Saturday to go out. The removal of the trailer storage to increase parking provides way more access to actually use our boat on a weekend. -The overall improvements of the property make it visually appealing and safer. -The updated docks are great. -The wash rack with available power and water is vastly improved.
Former review- Love the staff at the Marina. Rebecca is awesome. Roger and Dave are so friendly and helpful. They've taken such great care of our boat and ensure it's always ready when we want it. Have had such wonderful experience at...
